The Samsung Galaxy Gear is probably one of the more well known wearables out on the market right now. However, one of the biggest issues with wearables right now, especially in their relatively young state, is the state of their apps. These are usually very limited and singular in functionality.
You expect a gadget you forked hundreds of dollars over for to serve as a bit more than just a watch, flashlight, and camera. So it’s comforting to see an app like SWApp pop up in the XDA forums and break the monotony by packing in a variety of functions that Galaxy Gear owners will definitely find useful.
Developed by cyrilp, SWApp introduces a number of functions not available natively to the Galaxy Gear, including:
Remotely lock the hosting device with a password (even when no password lock has been set beforehand)
- Remotely launch apps on the hosting device
- Forward notifications to and fro the Galaxy Gear and hosting device
- Remotely compose text messages on the hosting device
- Customizable watch faces
SWApp is only compatible with Galaxy Gears running the Null Rom and is currently still in its beta stage. If you would like to give this a try, be sure to head over to the original thread for more information and download.
