Tasker And Pattern Lock for SGS 2

Tasker has become a nice little package that has allowed many devs (both seasoned and aspiring) to create a large number of apps as the tool enable devs to act upon several settings and variables that control the device. In this case, XDA member terranim decided to try and put together an app that would allow him to enable or disable the lock pattern based on your location. This would be useful simply because it would prevent unauthorized access to your device. Now, as the stock pattern lock in the SGS2 is handled differently, the original guides to accomplish little. The dev had to do a lot of reading in order to find a solution as to how to control the lock screen. He finally fixed it and decided to share his findings with other devs.

Please share some feedback with the dev in order to make this guide and his app better.

I started doing a bit of digging (mainly using logcat to see what the system was doing when the pattern lock was enabled/disabled via the Location and security settings menu). I discovered that the Samsung lock system is controlled by some files in /efs and with a bit of experimentation I was able to enable/disable the pattern lock via a root shell. I contacted the author of Secure Settings who suggested I use the Locale Execute plugin to run shell commands via Tasker.

You can find more information in the guide thread.
