One of the most annoying issues that has pestered the HTC EVO 4G for a long time is the one known as the “Wake Lock”, which is an issue that seemingly keeps your phone wide awake even though you put it to sleep. This seemingly innocent issue drains your battery like crazy. This is not rom type specific, which means that you will get it regardless of you being on a Sense rom or an AOSP rom. There have been several attempts at fixing this, but with random results. But now, it looks like after a lot of testing with several roms and various devices, XDA member JBabey figured out the best way to do away with this problem. It seems that the problem doesn’t lie within a single part of the firmware but rather as a combination of them. The dev based this on the fact that XDA member XxXViRuSXxX had posted that the PRI required for the fix was 1.77, but results varied a bit from hardware version to hardware version. After several trials, he managed for the Android OS item, which normally is related to heavy battery drainage, to be completely gone.
The guide is very well written and easy to follow, but please follow it properly to avoid any unexpected results. Please leave some feedback in the thread if this worked for you.
I believe I have FINALLY figured out how to solve the infamous “Wake-Lock” or “Keep Awake” of Android OS that seems to drain the battery on end. It took several hours of reading forum posts, several DAYS of testing on 5 different EVO’s (I work at Sprint) and have tested the fix across a multitude of ROM’s, including Sense.
You can find more information in the guide thread.
