The Typist Puts Your Mobile Typing Skills to the Test

The Typist Puts Your Mobile Typing Skills to the Test

Do you think that you’re pretty quick on the virtual keys of your mobile device? Would you like a way of objectively quantifying exactly how fast your thumbs can tap or swipe along your on-screen keyboard, as well as tracking all progress? There are plenty of typing tests available for desktop OSes and even on the web. But now thanks to an app by XDA Forum Member bloggert, you now can do exactly this on Android.

The Typist is a simple typing test application that gives you a block of text to transcribe in order to calculate your words per minute. The app pulls text from various popular books to ensure a fair testing process, and there are one-, two-, and three-minute tests available. Once completed, a detailed results page displays your WPM, as well as errors and most frequently mistyped letters. You can then track your progress over time, as well as compete against your friends using Google Play Games leaderboards.

The Typist is a great way to practice faster typing while on the go. While your thumbs may not take too kindly to the added abuse, with time you’ll find out what keyboard styles and techniques work best for you. Head over to the application thread to give the app a shot.
