As we do every week, here is the weekly Q&A. In this XDA Feature, we go around the forum and find questions and answers that will hopefully help you answer questions about certain mods, devices, and much more. Here we go with our top 5.
Q: Is a backup made with Rom Manager good enough to flash back to the stock rom or do I need an SBF?
A: A Nandroid backup of a stock ROM will work to restore back to that stock ROM but not stock conditions (IE: Stock Recovery)
Q: Can someone explain if LTE capable verizon (CDMA) phones will work outside the USA?
A: LTE is based on GSM. LTE cards are basically next gen sim cards. New LTE phones from Vzw will have an LTE slot for an LTE card. They will still be CDMA for 3G and voice.
Q: I have a HTC Leo which I’m trying to switch to android but can’t get Magdlr 112 onto my phone, I get through the first couple of pages it says it’s uploading,I get the tri colour screen then grey htc screen but sticks at 0% then after a couple of minutes says error 260 and that it can’t connect to the device.
A: Yes radio will solve the problem of getting stuck on white HTC screen after installing magldr. Boot to bootloader mode, connect to pc, when usb shows run the CustomRUU in the radi ofile you downloaded. Ensure it is a 50 not 51 series radio. You can try 2.15.50 (see link in my signature). If the download doesn’t have a CustomRUU.exe file included then you can use one from any winmo custom rom.
Q: This morning, I noticed my emails weren’t getting marked read and emails weren’t going out. I cleared data and cache in the gmail app. It marks emails as read but still won’t send. I did a nandroid backup, still same problem. I installed fresh still had the problem…data wiped the app but no luck. Anything else I can try? I’m on myns warm two point two.
A: Had this issue a week ago; It was due to Gmail.apk residing in both /system/app and on my EXT3 partition (both were different versions)
Q: I Just rooted my alltel htc hero cdma, but my mms doesn’t work, I flashed a fix i found online but it did not help.
A:It may be a problem with the rom itself so try and flash another rom or reflash the one you are currently using. Just remember to backup your info and wipe/factory reset then flash
