There are some great themes out there for specific applications—both free and paid. The problem with theming paid apps however, is that once you’ve spent hours and hours fiddling with PNG files and digging through XML files, you can’t share your work. Well not anymore, because XDA Recognised Developers and Forum Moderators Diamondback and Whiskey103 have come up with a rather ingenious solution to that particular problem.
Remote Theme Injector is a tool to theme APK files (both free and paid) which will then allow you to share your themes with others, without distributing the APK itself. There are two parts to the tool—the patcher and the editor. The patcher is a Windows executable that will simply allow you to select your target app, which will then be decompiled, patched, recompiled, signed, and zip-aligned before your eyes with absolutely no effort at all. The editor is a tool for creating the themes themselves. It’s a simple wizard-style app that will walk the themer through the steps required to create a theme file for their chosen APK. A full and comprehensive guide to using the tool can be found in the forum thread.
I’m sure there’s no need for me to tell you just how cool this is, and I’m sure we’ll begin to see a load of great themes for some of Android’s most popular apps springing up once this catches on. If you’d like to find out more about this, check out the release thread. That said, I’m off to butcher some apps._________
