Tired of Software Skinning? How About Hardware Skinning?

Personalized devices have been a cornerstone of our little world. Skins of all kinds and for all kinds of applications have made their way across XDA, giving us the right amount of eye candy that we need when we look at our screens. But what about the phone itself? Devices have different designs and as of late, different color schemes on the body. One such case is the HTC EVO 4G, which sports a red interior that appeals to quite a few people, but not everyone. XDA member skydeaner is one such member and he decided to take matters into his own hands and tried to get rid of the bits and pieces of red that can be seen on the EVO (with the back cover on). In this case, he sanded the camera’s outer ring as well as the place where the kickstand goes. The resulting piece looked quite good. The member posted a guide as to how he got rid of the extra color in his device.
Please leave some feedback for the member as well as some pictures if you have a different looking device at the end.
Just thought I would share pictures of what I did. I have like 10 different colors of jelly cases I use and only one of them went with the red accents on the phone. So I sanded down the camera ring to remove the red anodizing and then polished it to a mirror finish. And I painted the red plastic under the kickstands a gloss black. Looks good with my white and black back now, and looks tons better with all my cases.
