Restoring a phone to stock can be a serious pain, especially for HTC devices. Finding the correct RUU, flashing the S-On tool in recovery (sometimes repeatedly til it works), trying to flash it via the bootloader, then several hours of figuring out why the flash fails before it works. It can be very frustrating to get it back to full stock.
The tool, recently updated to version 2, has the capacity to create a flashable zip that will restore you to stock and, as of the update, can flash boot images as well. Says con247:
The main point of this tool is to create a PH98IMG.zip specific to your needs that has the right mainver attached to it and the right boot.img of the rom you want to get to.
Version 2 already out! You can flash custom boot images with this tool now! Put any boot image you want on your sd card named customboot.img and select the appropriate option in the tool.
While there are a few set backs, this tool promises to take the frown out of restoring to stock and that’s something every HTC user can appreciate. Do take note of the limitations at the bottom of the first post, as they are important.
