Tweet Balloon is ‘Facebook Chatheads’ for Twitter

Facebook Chatheads debuted alongside Facebook Home. But unlike Home, Chatheads has actually proven itself to be a useful and practical, albeit resource-intensive, feature. Inspiring Paranoid Android’s Halo, its a wonder that Facebook’s biggest rivals such as Twitter haven’t followed suit and developed their own implementations.
So rather than waiting for it, XDA Forum Member kozaxinan developed Tweet Balloon, a Twitter client very similar to the aforementioned Facebook Chatheads and Halo. Once you’ve opened the app and signed into Twitter, Tweet Balloon will place a hovering circle around the left or right edge of the screen, much like Chatheads. Once you tap the circle, your fully featured and self-updating Twitter feed expands. Tapping it again minimizes the feed back to the edges. If you want to get rid of the circle, simply drag the circle to the bottom of the screen.
There are also many customization options relating to both your Twitter feed and the app itself, including:
- Hide or display certain categories of tweets
- Feed’s font size
- Display URL of tweets
- Display the source of tweets
- Refresh interval
- Notifications, ringtones, and vibrations
Kozaxinan recently released an update that extends support to ART, and there are many more features lined up for future releases. If you would like to try Tweet Balloon for yourself, check out the application thread for more information and download.
