Universal De-Blur Script Brings Clarity to Most Motorola Devices

If you own a Motorola device laced with their “Blur” UI, and feel the need to get rid of it without flashing a custom ROM, this may be of interest. XDA Senior Member Lokifish Marz has developed a script that removes the Blur from most Motorola devices. In his own words:
If you are afraid to unlock or bootstrap but want better performance from your Blurred phone then this is for you! There’s something to be said for Moto’s consistency with regards to Blur. Many current Blur APK’s retain the same name and levels of integration across multiple devices. What this translates into is that a universal script with subsections for device/carrier specific files that can be used to deBlur the Android Moto line. So without further chatter, here’s the “Something Special” I’ve been working on for ALL you locked Blurred Phone users.
The script will essentially strip out all of the stock launcher and replace the launcher with ADW. It then uses preconfigured backups to replicate the Blur look. However, if that’s what you want to get rid of, there is nothing stopping you from customizing your device as you see fit. The script also installs a modified build.prop with numerous tweaks to increase performance.
By virtue of the De-Blurring process, the script also frees up an extra 50 MB of space in /system/app and about 60 MB in available RAM. And if you’re using a Sprint, AT&T or Verizon device, this will even rid you of carrier bloatware as well.
Another issue, raised by XDA member Cythrawl, is that Blur contains a selection of apks that are capable of logging your personal information and have a list of required permissions that a lot of people may be completely unaware of. I’d suggest reading through his thread regarding the matter on the official Motorola forums here.
If you want to try this on your Blurred device then check out the original thread.
