We know how much you all love flashing anything that comes across your screen on your EVO 4G. This is not just a matter of roms but also kernels. We always strive to find the perfect match for whatever rom we are sporting at the moment. You are all too familiar and used to the process of flashing them as well: Go into Recovery, clear dalvik and regular cache, flash the zipped kernel, reboot, and voila. Well, XDA member Shinzul and TeamWin who are responsible for most breakthroughs in the world of the HTC EVO, have done it again and released Universal Kernel Manager. Basically, think of this as ROM Manager, but with Kernels. With space provided by TeamWin’s dedicated servers, the devs aim at having all kernel devs send in their kernels to host them in a single place. The app automatically does everything from downloading to clearing caches and rebooting, so with only a few clicks you can sport a new kernel in no time… no going through recovery required! The app also offers descriptions for these kernels in case you want to find out what you are about to flash.
This is still a work in progress and TeamWin is waiting for kernel devs to start submitting their work to start populating the app. Once this happens, the app will finally be released in the market. Be sure to visit the dev’s site if you have a kernel that you would like to share this way. Also, you may want to bookmark as this should be released shortly (please do not ask for ETA)!
Hey everyone! Team Win is back again, this time with a new app with a very simple but ambitious goal: create a place where all kernel developers can submit kernels easily and reach a much wider audience with ease.
The app currently does this:
