Universal Naked Driver Gets Face Lift, Adds New Devices

One of the many steps in doing almost anything with any Android device on a Windows PC is making sure that the device drivers are installed. Usually, this requires installing a proprietary, OEM-specific application. This can be time consuming, especially for users or developers who have multiple devices. Sometimes, it can be downright annoying, as many root methods and other processes require that these applications be uninstalled anyway. What if there were a set of drivers without the hassle of installing program after program? Well, there actually is.
Dubbed the Universal Naked Driver, the device driver pack was developed by XDA Senior Member 1wayjonny in order to provide drivers for practically every device without issues. As 1wayjonny explains:
I am happy to release my Universal Naked Driver Beta. This is to allow ADB, Fastboot & APX interfaces to work without installing any package much less multiples packages for users with multiple devices. Yes you can just install them and uninstall right away but why bother?
I was annoyed that I couldnt use my Transformer Prime and Galaxy Nexus without having versions and packages trip over each other. My previous post for the Sensation & Galaxy Nexus was helpful so I thought I would bring to XDA the newest Android driver available from source (which they call 4.0) and make it start talking.
The result? Universal Naked Driver is just over one year old, and it currently supports over 250 devices. With the most recent update, the driver gets refreshed substantially as a number of new devices are now supported. The list includes:
** Google Nexus 7 Added
** Samsung S3 International and Verizon Added
** Galaxy Nexus Variant Added (Thanks heulloic)
The UND has dropped its beta tag, and is now boasting well over 200,000 downloads. It is definitely something all Windows PC users should check out. To do so, hit up the original thread.
