Remember XDA member sonic74‘s famous USB Host Driver for the Google Nexus One, which allowed users to plug in USB keys, external monitors, input devices, webcams, and game controllers into their mobile devices? Well, it looks like XDA member bergfex has taken the time to port this over to the HTC Desire HD.
Unfortunately, as with the original driver for the Nexus One, using it will disable the native USB client functionality. In other words, with the kernel enabled, you will no longer be able to mount your Desire HD to your computer as USB storage. Luckily, this kernel can be loaded up through fastboot boot, meaning that all you have to do to revert to normal is reboot your device.
If you’ve ever dreamed of using a USB device with your Desire HD, please feel free to continue on to the original thread.
