View 3D Images on Non-Sense ROMs on the HTC EVO 3D

There are quite a few Sprint users out there who likely have fond memories of what seems to be a rather distant past. 2011 was the year when HTC decided to try something new—innovation at its best, if you will. They wanted to bring the not-so-new emerging technology of stereoscopic 3D imaging to mobile devices. Thus, the HTC EVO 3D was born. The device lacked tons of functionality that should have been either stock or at least optional, but it was (and still is by today’s standards) quite a powerful device. Luckily, back then, the device had lots of good development. And needless to say, many of these so shortcomings were quickly fixed by the community. One such developer was XDA Forum Member HJ200, who came up with a rather good chunk of solutions, including the ability to use actual 3D wallpapers in 3D.
After considerable effort, people were able to unlock their bootloaders completely, and happily started going in different directions with their taste in ROMs. Unfortunately, much like everything we do here at XDA-Developers, having your favorite ROM (particularly if it is AOSP-derived) might come with a few trade offs. For instance, the 3D capabilities of the device disappeared if a non-Sense ROM was flashed (and even later versions of Sense like 4.x ROMs had almost no 3D capabilities). This meant that no 3D camera, and no way to see previously stored 3D pictures and videos in any ROM above Sense 3.6. Well, if you still have one of these babies lying around somewhere, you may want to dust it off and plug it in the charger because HJ200 has solved yet another hurdle by coming up with a 3D-enabled gallery for non-Sense ROMs. In other words, you can now see your .jps and .mpo images in all of their headache-inducing 3D glory.
HJ200 has successfully tested this on Jelly Bean 4.3, but is still ironing out a few bugs. These include how pictures cannot be properly seen in full screen when the device is rotated. If you still do have a Shooter/EVO 3D, please take this for a spin and give your feedback to the developer, particularly if you are using an AOSP source-derived ROM.
