The \system in Android is like a forbidden candy for many. A few people will only dare venture in the file and folder mess that represents that particular area of your devices. However, this is where all the fun usually happens. All settings, apks, everything that is of importance to us and to devs lies in there. However, getting there is not necessarily easy or cheap. There are programs like Root Explorer, which will allow you to do a whole bunch of things including mounting, copying, and doing some other fun actions, but as this is a paid program, one has to look for alternatives. Luckily, XDA member AdamOutler has posted a guide to perform all of the above functions and more by using a connection from your computer (whether you are running Windows or Linux), which will allow you to do things such as dual mount, wireless mount, open a wireless root shell, and much more. The guide is intended to give you unrestricted access to… well, everything in your device. As such, it also gives you enough tools to royally mess up your device. So, be careful when you are trying something. Also, remember that you must be rooted to try this out.
The guide is well detailed and gives you links to get all the stuff that you need to get started. Please leave some feedback for the dev.
Here is how you can obtain unrestricted file access to your phone.
Most of the time you don’t need to access the restricted areas of your phone. Sometimes it’s required. I like to use SSH/sftp as it is very compatible with everything.
Here are some of the benefeits of using this technique:
- Dual mount ( you can copy to and from the phone while using the sdcard)
- wireless mount (copy to your sdcard without cable)
- wireless root shell (root terminal access)
You can find more information in the guide thread.
