Want To Run Rooted .893 On Your Bionic? Here’s How…

As it is customary with Motorola, all of their stuff is locked beyond comprehension (albeit, there have been a few smart workarounds to customize our devices). It seems that the latest update for the Motorola Bionic is very tempting as it has a ton of improvements in terms of battery life, stability, and speed. However, the caveat is that if you flash this update, you will lose root. At least this was the case until XDA member Sjflowerhorn came up with a rather smart way of applying the update and keeping root in the process. The only thing that you must be sure of is that you must be on rooted stock .886 and all the bloatware must be left intact. The rest of the process seems to use P3droid’s forever root method, which must be applied prior to flashing .893. Once you are done with this, you need to use the cheesecake app to change the staging, which will in turn allow you to run the update.
Looks like this is a must do if you are not happy with your Bionic’s current performance. Please make sure that all instructions are followed properly as a missed step could put you on the road of owning a brick. Please leave some feedback if you had issues.
Bionic bootstrap works.
Rom manager works including cwmr.
So far all apps work fine.
Battery seems better but time will tell.
Cell standby greatly reduced!
Blur UI faster more responsive.
Camera slightly faster.
