Some of xda-developers’ most interesting development projects focus on porting the Google Android operating system to devices that originally run the more outdated versions of Windows Mobile.
Projects such as XDANDROID, which gives users of phones such as the Touch Pro, Touch Diamond, and XPERIA X1 the opportunity to give Android a try, are particularly popular. More recently, major steps forward have been made in running the operating system on the HTC HD2 – arguably the best Windows Mobile 6.x device ever produced.
However, this doesn’t mean that older devices should be left behind. The OPANDROID project was established in order to successfully port Android to the HTC Opal, despite it no longer being in the limelight. Although inital progress is promising, the project is looking for more developing talent to help to get it off the ground.
