Webtop Achieved On Atrix Via HDMI Without A Dock

If you’re a proud owner of the Motorola Atrix you’ll know that the Atrix comes with the Webtop OS platform which gets activated when the device is plugged into a large screen accessory.

To ‘plug in’ the device, the Atrix requires a media dock for connection to an HDTV. XDA forum member fenny, however has managed to hack the apk files to enable Webtop on any HDMI connection without a dock.

In doing this, the XDA member has removed the Device ID check from the Webtop Launcher in the PortalApp.apk and made the DockProvider/DockService display the Webtop as an option whenever an HDMI cable is connected.

What’s more, there are two methods of installation available – Method 1 does not require root or a deodexed system, whilst Method 2 provides a root install option.
