X-Link Simplfies Transfers Between Android and PC

While most users are perfectly content with using their USB cables to send data to and from their Android phones and PCs, there are some out there who would rather have it be a painless wireless transfer. After all, the fewer cords laying around, the better. The only issue with most PC to Android wireless clients is that there’s a complicated setup that requires some networking knowledge to achieve.

XDA Forum Member joschi70 is looking to end those woes by releasing an application to wirelessly transfer files between PC and Android without requiring any network tinkering. According to the developer:

It’s using multicasts to find other clients within the same WiFi network.
So no setup ist needed.

In addition to the Android app there is also a Java based PC client available.
This client has been tested on Linux and Windows but might work on other configurations.

Thanks to the use of multicast, it should be virtually configuration-free. Basically, just install the Android and PC clients, and away you go..

For those who’d like to try it out, you can find the Android Market link along with discussion for those having trouble and an explanation of the application in the original thread.
