Xperiod Toolkit for Xperia X1 Delivers Custom Recovery to Your Desktop

When most people think about flashing ROMs, kernels, and tweaks, they usually think about doing so in a custom recovery. Most rooted users know what custom recovery is and how to use one. However, sometimes there may be instances where you’d rather flash straight from your computer rather than putting everything on your SD card. For Sony Xperia X1 users, you now have that option.

Using a toolkit called the Xperiod Toolkit, users can have a custom recovery style interface from the comfort of their home computer. XDA Senior Member BrianXP7 has compiled a number of scripts into a single interface that mimics a custom recovery. As BrianXP7 explains:

It’s a compilation of shell scripts (.sh) that I wrote that does what Clockwork Recovery does and more. Useful if you don’t to download and install the entire Android SDK (80+ MB). This very lightweight toolbox is less than a mere megabyte (but still depends on the Linux Terminal or Cygwin).

So if you want to use this one Windows users, you’ll need good old Cygwin. BrianXP7 has mentioned that there is a Windows version in the works, but it is not ready yet. Otherwise, it’s as simple as downloading the package, running the script, andfiguring out what you want to do.
