The 2013 edition of the Big Android BBQ has come and gone. At the BBQ, there were many great events and presentations. One such presentation was by XDA Elite Recognized Developer XpLoDWilD. Also known as Guillaume Lesniak, XpLoDWilD has been involved in numerous closed- and open-source projects in various domains related to software engineering, mobile development, and game development. He is passionate about technology and open source projects. He has been contributing to numerous projects, including CyanogenMod and making apps for Android.
At the BBQ, XpLoDWilD gave a talk called “Developments in the Open Source Community.” This session discussed how the promise of open source looks, or maybe doesn’t look, in the open source community. These are promises of better quality, higher reliability, more flexibility, lower cost, and an end to predatory vendor lock-ins. The presentations talks about how new initiatives can help bolster the open source mindset in the Android community for both the developers and the end-users.
Additionally, a new project by XpLoDWilD and other developers was announced, called OmniROM. If you want to see the presentation and learn what XpLoDWilD has to say, check out this video! Also, be sure to check out XDA Developer TV Producer Jordan’s interview with XpLoDWilD on XDA Developer TV.
