Xposed Additions Module for More Power and Lock Screen Settings

Switching ROMs from one device to another, you often lose some of the nice little perks that you’ve familiarized yourself with during your daily usage. Loading an AOSP-derived ROM on a device also means giving up these OEM-specific features and quirks that you may enjoy.

When XDA Recognized Contributor dk_zero-cool switched from the HTC One X to the Samsung Galaxy S III, he found himself in a similar situation, which for him came in the form of what he considered to be annoying power button behavior while the screen was off. Essentially, he didn’t care for the power button to be functional while the screen was off, instead preferring to use the hardware home button (on his Samsung device) to power on the device. From there, the functionality grew.

So what exactly does this add to your vanilla flavored build of Android? In the words of its creator:

  1. Ability to disable the power button when the screen is off (Samsung devices can use the Home Key to turn it back on)
  2. Ability to set the lock screen to use the device rotation settings (I have a car dock which is always placed in landscape as I use it as GPS, so only having lock screen in portrait bugs me)
  3. Ability to choose the wake action for when the USB cable is plugged/unplugged

There are no in-app settings to control this. Instead, they will be hooked into Android’s settings menu under Settings -> Display -> Xposed Additions. It is important to keep in mind that in addition to XDA Recognized Developer rovo89‘s Xposed Framework, you will also need XposedBridge to use this. Don’t worry, though, XposedBridge is freely available in the original Xposed Framework thread.

Make your way over to the module thread. And to take a peek under the hood, head over to the project’s Github.
