Watching videos on our mobile devices is more common than ever thanks to increasing bandwidth, resolution and screen size. Despite greater device capabilities, many still find the YouTube experience to be a step behind.
XDA Forum Member theos0o hopes to fix this with a modified YouTube application that gives users the option to play 720p streams on devices of any resolution, and over any network. While playing a 720p stream on a WVGA phone doesn’t exactly sound too logical, users of lower resolution devices are reporting increased quality over the “HQ” stream thanks to higher sampling.
Build 2.4.4 works with Android 2.x to 3.1, and build 3.5.5 is intended for Android 3.2 and greater. A black themed version mod has been provided as well per user requests.
WiFi HD: HD only available when connected to WiFi networks
WiFi + 3G HD: HD available on both WiFi and mobile networks
Please be sure to report any bugs encountered to the developer. Continue on to the application thread to get started._________
