New Reported Post System is Live in Forums

One of the ways our moderator team keeps the XDA forums clean is through the Reported Post system. If a member spots a post from a troublesome poster, a thread with illegal content, or posts that break XDA rules, they can report the post with the exclamation icon present on every post. Since XDA is so big, it gets difficult to manage the dozens of RPs we receive each day, especially with the lackluster built-in RP tools that vBulletin provides. Today, we’ve rolled out a vastly improved RP system that is based on custom code.

The new RP system is most changed on the side that you don’t see. The system now will notify the Forum Specific Mod when they have a pending RP through a pop-up notification when they log in to XDA. Each RP is then placed into a queue that has advanced tracking capability plus the ability to be “claimed” by a moderator. This way, we can keep tabs on every reported post, and act on them as quickly and efficiently as possible.

On the user end, we’ve simplified the RP form. No longer do you need to PM a mod with a problem. Just fill in the form, choose a reason for the report, and that’s it! To avoid inundating our moderators with countless RPs, please only report a post when there is truly a reason to do so.

We should also mention that the new RP system only works on the XDA 2010 template, and not Classic. While we’ll always have the Classic template (for those of you that like the vintage yellow!), new features will continue to hit XDA 2010 template.

Finally, we ask that you be patient as we all work out any bugs in the new RP system. It will take us a few days before we smooth out any kinks. Thanks for your patience.
