After weeks of beta testing and months of designing and coding, the “XDA 2013″ redesign of the forums will become the default template for all guests and members starting today! The redesign modernizes the look of the forums and is the platform on which we will roll out several new features to XDA over the coming months.
XDA 2013 required lots of work and testing from dozens of people, and we’d like to thank all the users and moderators who reported bugs and feature suggestions (some of which we are still implementing). We’d also like to thank ThaPhlash who made some some great thread icons for us. Most of you have probably seen his work, but if not, check out his amazing icon repository.
If you have yet to try out the 2013 beta, you’ll notice some changes in your browsing experience this morning, including a completely re-designed forum index page (that eliminates the endless list of devices and puts your favorite forums within easy reach), a collapsible sidebar with constant access to PMs and subscriptions, and some tweaks to post pages that save significant vertical screen space. There are two versions of the 2013 theme—one with a 1280px minimum width and one with a 1024px minimum width (which permanently eliminates the sidebar). The 1280px template is default (since 95% of XDA users have a high enough screen resolution), but you can always change to 1024px using the dropdown at the bottom of every forum page. Not only that, but if you absolutely hate the 2013 theme (we really hope you don’t!), you can always switch back to 2010 or Classic with the same dropdown.
We hope you’ll enjoy 2013 as much as we enjoyed creating it. And please, let us know what you think of 2013 on Twitter with #XDA2013._________
