Reworking the Forum-Specific Moderator System
Posted December 5, 2012 at 08:00 pm by NotATreoFan
XDA Developers is a community of millions. And with that, come hundreds of device forums. As XDA exploded in popularity, the need for assigned moderators replaced the global moderators that tended to surf their home forums regularly and others only from time to time. It was in mid-2010 when we rolled out the Forum-Specific Moderator idea, and there have been a few tweaks since. Today marks what is potentially the largest tweak to the system: manufacturer/regional grouping.
In a few hours, the Moderator Committee will begin reassigning the 65 Forum-Specific Moderators to new teams based upon manufacturer, carrier technology, and region. For example, instead of having moderators assigned to both HTC and Samsung devices, they will now be responsible for only one. American and Canadian devices will be further split by CDMA and GSM.
- Moderator A – Samsung GS3, Sony XPERIA X8, Motorola Razr M
- Moderator B – HTC One X, Motorola Xoom, Nexus 7
- Moderator C – Dell Streak 5, Nexus 4, Samsung Stratosphere
- Moderator Team A – Samsung GS2, Samsung GS3, Galaxy Nexus, etc
- Moderator Team B – HTC One X, One XL, One X+, etc
- Moderator Team C – HTC Evo 4G LTE, HTC DNA, HTC Verizon DROID Incredible, etc
It has always been our goal to ensure that all visitors enjoy their stay. A big part of this falls on the Forum-Specific and Senior Moderators to ensure that our forums are clean, and that trolls are kept in check. By reorganizing into these teams, everyone is now responsible for only a specific manufacturer. This will give them a more intimate knowledge of the inner workings and quirks.
Please bear with us as the process begins, and keep an eye out for introductory threads in your home forum(s) as the new teams stop by to make themselves known. Finally, feel free to PM me or any other moderator with questions, or leave comments below.
