No, you’re not dreaming – today we have unveiled four new sections of the forums, each aimed at a specific variant of the upcoming Galaxy S family from Samsung.
In anticipation of the different phones’ releases and the inevitably strong demand for development following them, we’ve gone ahead and put these forums online to encourage discussion about the devices. The existing I9000 section will be used for the already-released European model exclusively.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the four American variants, here is a quick summary of how they stack up against one another. Click the phone’s title to be taken straight to its new section on the site. All of the phones follow the same general specifications as listed below, with the noted exceptions:
Samsung Galaxy S Specifications
Operating System: Android 2.1 (Eclair) – All variants expecting update to Froyo
Processor: 1GHz Cortex A8 “Hummingbird”
Display: 4.0″ Super-AMOLED WVGA
Cameras: Two – 5MP sensor with 720p video recording, VGA CMOS at front
Connectivity: 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 Specification, GSM, GPRS, EDGE; HSDPA, HSUPA (not in the US), AGPS, digital compass, proximity and light sensors, FM radio
Storage: 8 or 16GB internal, MicroSD support
This variant provides the most notable differences to the generic specification by adding an optional full QWERTY slide-out keyboard and compatibility with Sprint’s 4G service (as seen on the EVO). Flash for the rear camera and availability only for the 16GB model are rumoured. The front-facing camera and all other specifications are maintained.

No front-facing camera, nor the choice between storage size – only the 16GB model will be available. The phone will be bundled with with a 2GB MicroSD, the full Avatar movie and The Sims 3.
