XDA Recognized Developer Program Expansion

XDA Recognized Developer Program Expansion

Here at XDA-Developers, we are keen to recognize the time and effort that our members put into the site. As an extension of our existing Recognized Developer program, we are announcing three new titles. As always, the goal of the Recognized Developer Program is to reward the very members who make this site great.

The new titles are are as follows:

  • Recognized Contributor
  • Recognized Themer
  • Recognized Developer (existing)
  • Elite Recognized Developer

Recognized Contributor is a role intended for members who produce some of the best original and helpful guides for users, as well as helping other users who have problems, in a friendly manner. Recognized Contributors will get a custom user title and the faster ad-free XDA template, as well as access to developer tools currently being created. Any Senior Moderator on XDA can add Recognized Contributors, should you feel deserving of this title.

Recognized Themers are those users who work (often tirelessly) on designing new theme graphics and user interface overhauls for ROMs. Users who aspire to be Recognized Themers should be creating original graphics work for their themes being released, demonstrate a commitment to crediting other users’ work when applicable, and seek the relevant permission in advance from the original creator. Recognized Themers will receive a custom user title and the faster ad-free XDA template, as well as access to developer tools currently being created. Any Senior Moderator on XDA can add Recognized Themers, should you feel deserving of this title.

Recognized Developer is the title intended for users who produce some of the most innovative and original work in ROM, kernel, and application development. As a Recognized Developer, it is expected that you will be producing and actively developing (rather than “cooking”) new works, while ensuring that you always seek permission and give credit to other users’ work referenced or used. Recognized Developers receive the full gamut of privileges including basic moderation powers, the ad-free XDA template, a custom title, and more. You can apply to be a Recognized Developer here.

Finally, Elite Recognized Developer is a special status reserved for some of the true legends of the site. Actively developing and constantly pushing technical boundaries, an Elite Developer is incredibly knowledgeable and highly respected in his or her field of expertise. The position of Elite Developer is not open to applications. Instead, it is appointed only by invitation, after peer-approval by existing Elite Developers and site staff. On an ongoing basis, Elite Recognized Developers, will receive phones and tablets for use with development projects, among other future benefits. You will see a small initial batch of Elite Recognized Developers (around 25 to start) appear around the site in the coming days.

For all of these positions, it is expected that users follow both the wording and spirit of the site rules, and encourage others to uphold them as well. While we expect all users to follow the site rules, users holding any of these titles will be expected to behave maturely, reasonably, and tolerantly. They should be posting on XDA for the right reasons (for the enjoyment of developing, rather than for personal gain or fame), and should be a positive influence on the forums.

In addition, no adequately proven “kanging” will be tolerated by XDA, particularly by anyone holding one of these such titles. In the event of an investigation being required into the matter, where kanging is proven, removal of status should be expected.

Finally, we’ll be now holding all Recognized Developers (at all levels) to certain standards outlined in our new Code of Conduct.

Should you have any specific questions about these new developments, send a PM to Svetius.
