Are They Dead? Are They Alive? Wonder No Longer

Have you ever wanted to know if a celebrity is still with us? As its name implies, Are They Dead is a morbidly interesting game  that lets you know if your celebrity of choice is still alive and kicking or has become one with the ether.

XDA forum member alinescoo has baked in functionality that allows users to search for their favorite celebrities by name, their notable works, death date, and an incredibly creepy “recently deceased” list. Future revisions will even have the option of configurable death notifications for your favorite celebrities.

In the words of the developer:

Have you ever caught yourself wondering “Hey, are they still alive?” Well ‘Are They Dead?’ let’s you easily search for your favorite celebrities and answer that very question.
-View information on your favorite celebrities, including their age, birthday, the date they died and cause of death.
-Can’t remember the persons name? Search from films, TV shows and even bands!
-Search by a specific date. Find out who might have died on your birthday, or which celebrity has the same birthday as you.
-Search from millions of entries!
*(Coming Soon) Notifications! Keep track of your favorite celebrities and get notifications on their birthday, status, or the anniversary of their death. Completely customizable. Plus many more features!

Sounds perfect for those who have a strange affinity for the other worldly. Those interested can get their fill in the application thread.

Google No Longer Sending Calendar SMS Notifications

In a not entirely surprising move, Google announced that it's putting an end to SMS notifications for Google calendar as of June 27th. They stated earlier, "SMS notifications for Google Calendar launched before smartphones were available. Now in a world with smartphones and notifications, you can get richer, more reliable experience on your mobile device, even offline". Google Drive for Work, Google Apps for Work (paid edition), Education and Government customers will not be affected by these changes and can continue using...

I/O Summary: Google Cardboard Virtual Reality

One year ago, Google introduced cardboard. Amazingly enough, that was all it took to fire up the Virtual Reality scene on Android, and what began as an open design concept exploded into thousands of apps and dozens of headsets from big and small vendors alike. Now, there are more than 1 million cardboard viewers/handsets - a Google-quoted number that might not even be accurate given the ease with which headsets can be rigged through off-the-shelf equipment. This year, cardboard returned...
