Anastasia End-Key for HD2

The "Quick List" application that loads on a long press of the end call/power key was a very sensible extension of the power button's functionality, especially on a WinMo device with as few buttons as the HD2. However many have found it both useful and lacking; while a data connection toggle is included, the arguably more useful WiFi toggle has been left out, and we have been graced instead with blank space on the remaining unused third of the screen....

X2 1% Increment Battery Icon

The default battery icon for Windows Mobile 6.5.3 only shows 4 levels. If you have found this inadequate or frustrating, then XDA member gtrab has a solution. He has used Ethermind's 1% increment battery driver (originally developed for the X1, which also reported battery level in 10% increments) and has re-sized his own battery level icons (also originally created for the X1) to fit the status bar of the X2's newer WM6.5.3 OS. Just like the original package for the...

XPERIA X2 ROM Region Change

Although there hasn't been a SPL for the X2 (and hence no custom ROMs), xda-devs member hertell has posted a method of spoofing the X2's region code, which allows X2 owners to flash (officially released) ROMs that weren't designed for their original country. This method has been used to change X2s to GENERIC_UK, in order to obtain the new MR2 update. It is also possible to change to a completely different language; the following are available: Originally posted by hertell...

Cookie’s CommMgr. Widget Extension

Xda-devs member myslee-ovi has developed a mod to complement the current version (1.7.1) of Cookie's Home Tab. Currently, it is in a prerelease stage and adds the connection toggles from the Connection Manager onto the home tab's quick launch area. The HTC Hero-inspired clock (as seen in screenshot) is also included as a separate download. Originally posted by myslee-ovi Here is the long-awaited extension for the Cookie's Home Tab v1.7.1 Attention... it's a very early version and currently with little...

LateReader: A WinMo Read It Later App

One of the really great things about the Windows Mobile community is that there's always skilled devs willing to step up to the plate. Read It Later is a service which allows you to create and sync a list of content from the web to save and read at a more convenient time. Noting the absence of a WinMo version alongside the existing iPhone and Android Read It Later apps Xda-devs member vizier has filled in the gap with his...

XPERIA X10 ROM Extracted & Rooted

For those users who have been eagerly waiting for the floodgates for custom ROMs to open on their XPERIA X10, xda-devs member jerpelea has good news for you- he has achieved root access on the X10, by patching the boot script and flashing it back to the phone. He already has provided the files for flashing, but unfortunately at this moment the flash process requires the SETool USB dongle and the associated software. A flashing method that doesn't require a...

NGTV White Taskbar Iconset

Hot on the heels of his black BW Taskbar set, xda-devs member dafunk2 has released a white taskbar icon set for Windows Mobile 6.5 and 6.5.x. The graphics are similar to his black set, but they have been selectively inverted to match the white theme. Originally posted by dafunk2 This taskbar is my mod from original Bilbobrian's (Brian's) one. I have inverted the colors black/white, but the original button layout is from Bilbobrian. Thanks Brian The taskbar is in two...

New Windows Phone 7 ROM Image Released

A new build (6176) of the Windows Phone 7 OS image (for the x86 emulator) has been released with the Windows Phone Developer Tools CTP Refresh, and xda-devs member RustyGrom has unlocked it using the same method as for the old (6077) ROM image in the SDK. We're still playing with it, but so far (compared to the older build) Office is installed, there's a new uninstall option for applications, and the phone functionality has been fleshed out; the dialer...

BW Taskbar Icons & Wait Animation

Building on the work of bilbobrian, xda-devs member dafunk2 has released a set of black taskbar icons for both Windows Mobile 6.5 and 6.5.x. While a lot of the icons were originally done by Brian, I've got to hand it to dafunk for what I think is the most impressive part of this set; the wait/busy animation: Originally posted by dafunk2 This taskbar is my mod from original Bilbobrian's (Brian's) one. I opened this thread in this section because some...

Windows Phone 7-style Notifications

With Windows Phone 7 looming on the horizon, many Windows Mobile users have been wanting to get a taste of the Windows Phone 7 interface on their existing device. Xda-devs member Jaxbot has released a WP7-style notifications app to complement his Windows Phone 7 theme. While the theme is still largely experimental and is made available with the associated caveat, this app largely 'just works'. Originally posted by Jaxbot Hello! Here's an experimental application I've been working on as a...

DINIK Anastasia Dialer, Slider & Icons

One of the great strengths of the Windows Mobile platform is the ability for users to customise their interface to their heart's content. XDA-dev member dinik has released a cosmetic modification to the HTC HD2 dialer, adding polished glass buttons to match his iconset and slider. The iconset has a massive 252 icons, replacing all of the stock HD2 icons as well as a large proportion of popular third-party programs. It is designed to replace the WinMo calendar and is fully skinnable. Slacker Radio for WM6(.x)

Finally! Just about every other smartphone platform has it, and it came to XDA earlier in the year via the T-Mobile HD2's ROMs but now it's become official, Slacker Radio has an official Windows Mobile client. Although it is listed for WM6.5 WVGA devices only, users are reporting that it works fine on WM6.1 WVGA devices as well. osKitchen: Visual ROM Kitchen for WinMo

Once upon a time, Windows Mobile ROM development was an arcane art, practised by a small number of individuals with their command-line spellbooks. Over the years several attempts have been made to demystify the arcane and thanks to the recent efforts of XDA-devs members OndraSter (kitchen) and airxtreme (GUI) we have osKitchen, a tool which brings ROM wizardry to the common citizen. Featuring a clean, logical interface and nifty features that allow you to jump straight into cooking (like the...
