Disable Cell Standby To Increase Battery Life On Your G Tablet
Have you flashed CM onto your Viewsonic G Tablet? Noticed any battery drain or usage from ‘Cell Standby’?
XDA forum member raydog153 did and decided to put together an update to remove the apks that have to deal with the Android phone system, which of course does not exist on the G Tablet. The XDA member states that the update has only been tested on CM6.1 b4 ROM.
The update removes four apks – Phone, MMS, VoiceDialer and Telephony Provider.
If you’d rather remove manually using root explorer, that is also of course possible, but either way you should backup your system first.
For more information and to download the update, take a look at the forum thread.

Now, there are more than 1 million cardboard viewers/handsets - a Google-quoted number that might not even be accurate given the ease with which headsets can be rigged through off-the-shelf equipment. This year, cardboard returned...
