Dolphin Engine Beta Released to the Public
The browser war on Android has seen tight competition between a number of competitors. Some users enjoy third party browsers like Mozilla, Opera, and Dolphin, while others prefer the Google’s own offerings of Chrome and the stock browser. As with all software, there is always room for improvement, and Dolphin is looking to take the next step forward with Dolphin Engine, an under-the-hood upgrade for the Dolphin browser.
Rather than functioning as an alternate skin for the device’s native WebKit engine, Dolphin Engine is a modified WebKit implementation aimed at giving Dolphin browser the best HTML5 performance possible. XDA Senior Member rafa6571 posted about the Dolphin Engine beta and some of its advantages:
5-10X faster than the default Android browser
100% faster than Chrome (at times)
Scored over a 450 when tested on HTML5test.com. (HTML5test.com is an a respected tool for testing a browser’s support of HTML5)
Try it out our latest version of Dolphin Engine, the behind-the scenes technology that makes this Dolphin Browser the highest performing HTML5 browser.
Dolphin Engine emphasizes HTML5 performance, so they have focused on things such as 2D text rendering, canvas, and GPU rendering, and CPU / GPU parallel computing.
