Wear is said to not offer enough for mass adoption, even though its been in the market for over 9 months. I personally have a Gear Live which I purchased 8 months ago, and my experience with it has had its ups and downs throughout my time with it. For the longest time, I was not able to recommend the platform to anyone. Since then, a lot of updates have hit Wear watches, some improving battery life, others changing the...
Enter the Roms – First Custom Rom for SGS 2 Hits the Street
While we don’t normally celebrate Rom releases here in the Portal, we figured that this was important enough as it points to the beginning of something wonderful for SGS 2 owners due to it being the first ever custom Rom for this device. XDA moderator pulser_g2, has been resurrected into this developer’s world to bring you the newest installment of a Rom that all of you Hero owners are likely familiar with. VillainRom 1.0 is ready and available for mass consumption. Keep in mind the instructions for flashing this properly. You will need to use Odin and identify your device as a PDA and nothing else. According to the dev, since this is a tar.md5 file, Odin will double check for the md5 to be correct, so your chances of damaging your device with a corrupt download are slim to none. However, he has provided the value in the thread for you to verify that you downloaded the right thing.
Needless to say, you don’t need to be rooted to flash this on your device. Are you ready to take your SGS 2 to the next level? If so, please take this for a spin and leave some feedback for the dev, in case you run into issues or bugs.
So… After saying last night I had the first custom ROM booting on the SGS2, it seems only fair to share it with you guys so you can get some VillainROM goodness on your SGS2s.
You can find more information in the ROM thread.

A new, revamped and open source website is also in the works, with a look inspired by material design. We also got a tip about an...
