This Week’s Recap

This Week’s Recap is a series of articles, in which we we give you a short recapitulation of the week’s most popular news from the XDA forums.

The Recap

Desire HD ROM Leak

HTC must have had a tough time this week. Despite of the many attempts to prevent the Desire HD ROM leak to be generally available for download, they did not succeed to keep the crowd away from this very important ROM. A lot of developers were immediately starting to port the ROM to other devices – with success. The first beta of the HD2 arrived not much later, but was taken down by HTC. The second beta however was not deleted, and is still available for download. Other devices that now offer the new ROM are the Motorola Milestone, HTC Desire, EVO 4G and Incredible. The new Sense UI ROM offers a lot of new features and should be faster than regular ROMs.

Boot Multiple Android ROMs

XDA developer Punk.Kaos (we interviewed him recently) reached a major breakthrough in the whole Android development segment. He was able to create a hack that lets you boot several Android ROMs from the same SD card. So, if you would like to switch between different Android ROMs without having to flash it, this is certainly something you should keep an eye on. It is in a very early alpha stage, and is only working on the Droid Eris for now.
