Going To The BBQ? You Could Win A 10.1 Galaxy Tab!

Less than 1 week away and the organizers of the Big android BBQ seem to be going at it at full force while somehow maintaining their sanity. We just learned of a little piece of information that will make going to the event all that much sweeter. It looks like if you are into writing, blogging, etc, and would like to write an article or story about any part of the event, you can enter into a contest to win a brand new Galaxy tab 10.1. It seems that all you need to do is write something up and that is it. A panel of judges consisting of Russell Holy from geek.com will determine the winner. Think that you can write with a $500 prize on the line? Give it a go and best of luck!

The Big Android BBQ is excited to announce the “Big Android BBQ Meporter Contest”!

There is one more thing you’ll need to pack for the BBQ this weekend, your creative writing skills. The folks over at Meporter will be giving away a BRAND NEW Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to the person who writes the best article about the Big Android BBQ. Your story could be about any aspect of the BBQ; the AndroidGuys.com pool party on Friday night, one of the panels on Saturday, the bar crawl, or anything else you can think of.  So put on your thinking caps, sharpen your pencils and warm up your thumbs. It’s about to get real.

“Who will judge my article?” you ask? None other than prolific Geek.com writer Russell Holly. The deadline for entries is noon Sunday morning, October 2nd. The winner will be announced Sunday evening and will receive their Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 on stage during the BBQ’s farewell ceremony.

Where should you begin? For starters, head on over to the android market and download the Meporter app. Become familiar with its many features. Next, you might want to start stalking Russell. Browse histwitter feed, peruse his Google+ page, really get to know Russell. Finally, have fun this weekend! Learn something! Meet new people! Then write up a sweet article that will win you that Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

I/O Summary: Google Cardboard Virtual Reality

One year ago, Google introduced cardboard. Amazingly enough, that was all it took to fire up the Virtual Reality scene on Android, and what began as an open design concept exploded into thousands of apps and dozens of headsets from big and small vendors alike. Now, there are more than 1 million cardboard viewers/handsets - a Google-quoted number that might not even be accurate given the ease with which headsets can be rigged through off-the-shelf equipment. This year, cardboard returned...
