HTC Rezound Gets Pure AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich Port

The HTC Rezound has a number of Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs. Most of them also include HTC Sense or are based on HTC Sense framework (often called “senseless”). However, there isn’t a whole lot of AOSP love going on in the HTC Rezound forums. At least, there wasn’t a few days ago.

XDA Senior Member dmeadows013 has been working, released, and is now actively updating an Ice Cream Sandwich AOSP port for the Verizon’s beastly HTC phone. Based on the HTC Evo 3D port of ICS, the ROM is still only in beta and one can expect to have issues.

Here’s a list of what isn’t working:

-Data
-Phone
-Wifi
-Camera
-Bluetooth
-Texting

So it isn’t quite ready for prime time, daily driver usage yet but seeing a ROM available to flash is always an encouraging step forward for any phone development.

If this is something you want to check out, possibly help with or if you just wanna flash it and check it out, you can find all the information, download links, instructions (but not screen shots…yet) and much more in the ROMs original thread.

New Snapdragons: Some Context & Contrast

It hasn’t been a good year for Qualcomm so far. Every device featuring the Snapdragon 810 has had a less-than-stellar fate, be it because of overheating complaints or actual decreased sales. HTC is in a particularly worrisome situation, and Sony’s Z4 is slipping down Japanese charts just over a week after its release. The G Flex 2, Mi Note Pro and Z3+ all saw complaints as well. Even MediaTek is seemingly getting an advantage over this.   But a particularly...

Google To Launch Next Gen Android One On July 14

The first gen of Android One devices to be launched in India in September 2014 were decent starter smartphones, featuring budget specs and a promise of fast updates. However, the phones did not pick up as big a response as Google hoped. Now, as per a report by The Economic Times, it appears that Google is rethinking their strategy towards Android One in India. The first gen Android One devices focused on first time smartphone users, but were flawed in...
