Is Your EVO a Slow Reader? SD Card Read Speed Fix

When it comes to SD cards for devices, there are many factors to consider, not just storage size. The second most important factor in a card would be the read and write speeds that it can achieve and this can usually be determined by the card’s “class”. However, let’s just say that you buy a class 10 card, which is rather quick, and you put it in your EVO. Next thing you know, you notice absolutely no difference between speeds and can’t help but to ask yourself if you either got scammed or you simply cannot tell. In order to put your mind at ease, XDA member lahma69 went through this same exact thing, and while testing the reading speed of the card, it topped at 5 Mbps. After digging around for a bit and doing some testing, he found that the reason for the sluggishness is not the card, but a value in one of Android’s internal files. Changing this value allowed the card to read at triple the speeds that the dev was getting.

The fix is not hard to do, but you must have root and some way to look at and edit root files (Root Explorer, etc). Please leave feedback.

I guess no one had really noticed, but there is a major flaw with the evo. The microsd read speed is severely limited. I just bought a new Patriot 32gb class 10 micro sdhc card, and the read speed was great on my pc, but on my evo it was getting stuck at 5Mbps oi tested with “sd card speed tester” while my write speed was correct at 11Mbps. I don’t understand why all developers aren’t integrating it into their roms/kernels , it doesn’t make sense…

You can find more information in the fix thread.

HTC’s New Ad Campaign And What It Really Means

HTC has just released three new blind test adverts comparing app loading speed, audio and selfies. Whilst you are surely astounded that HTC won every time, the tests were incredibly biased and their release shows something concerning about the company and how they are performing in the current market.     One of the many reasons companies tend to utilize blind trials is when they feel that their product is comparable or better than its competitors. This leads to the assumption...
