Metar Widget Brings METAR and TAF Info to Home Screens for Pilots

There are quite a few weather apps out there. Some are quite informative, like Weather Channel or Weatherbug. Others are more fun, like the weather app that tells you whether or not to wear pants. There are many other people and professions who need weather in a different sort of way. There is now a weather app designed specifically for pilots.

XDA Forum Member Florendroid released an application called Metar Widget. It displays weather in METAR and TAF formats, so pilots can check out the weather without opening several websites. The official features include:

-METARs from your favorite airport on homescreen
-quick access to latest METARS and TAFs from widget
-quick access to aviation weather website from METARs/TAFs list

This is an excellent way to check out the weather for flights. Metar Widget is otherwise a pretty simple application. Users simply need to place the widget after installing and hit refresh. Then, it’s a matter of selecting a preferred airport, and pilots are ready to check the weather whenever they need. If you use METAR or TAF weather info, this is definitely an application to check out.

For more details, check out the application thread.

Huawei: A Giant the Western World Should Look Out For

The smartphone landscape is drastically changing its focus. What was once a North-America-centric monopoly of high-specification phones is now merely an afterimage of the past. The meat of the game is elsewhere now; emerging markets looking for good bang-for-buck are what OEMs are increasingly aiming towards, and in this new game the old players must adapt-or-die. Xiaomi has grown at one of the most notable rates in the industry, leading it to become the world's most valuable start-up; and its...
