Charging

Does the OnePlus 7 Pro support USB Power Delivery?

Previous OnePlus smartphones before the 7 Pro did not support any kind of fast charging if you weren't using a OnePlus-branded Dash Charge/Fast Charge accessory. The OnePlus 7 Pro supports USB 3.1 Type-C and the "5V3A standard of Power Delivery" according to Vito L from OnePlus. Although that's half the speed offered by the Warp Charge 30 accessories, charging won't be painfully slow.

No, the regular model doesn't support Warp Charge 30

In case it wasn't clear on the product page or during the announcement, only the Pro model supports the new 30W Warp Charge 30 technology.

What happens if you use your older cables?

The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition wasn't widely available, so naturally there's still a lot of confusion about the new Warp Charge 30 technology works with your existing cables.

"If you are using the phone [that] support[s] warp charge, it doesn't matter if you use the old cable, but if [you] use the older dash charger, the speed would be slower as 20W." - Bob X., Bullets Wireless Product Manager

In essence, what matters here is the power brick that you use.

Display

Does the OnePlus 7 Pro have a variable refresh rate display?

The new OnePlus has a 90Hz QHD+ OLED display, meaning it has one of the best smartphone displays on the market. Although OnePlus has added an "auto switch" option to display resolution settings, there's no comparable mode for the display refresh rate—it's either 60Hz or 90Hz. However, choosing 90Hz doesn't lock everything to that refresh rate.

"Yes, the OnePlus 7 Pro supports a variable refresh rate that changes to 60Hz for scenarios like watching videos, camera app and in phone calls." - Vito L., OnePlus Product Manager

Thus, you won't have to worry about issues with videos because OxygenOS intelligently switches between the supported refresh rates.

Do the devices support display out over HDMI?

With Android Q bringing a native desktop mode, you may be wondering if the OnePlus 7 series will be ready for it. Vito L. confirmed that the two devices "[support] mainstream DisplayPort output products." I connected my 7 Pro to my TV using a Type-C to HDMI adapter and it indeed started screen mirroring.

Connectivity

What's the difference between the T-Mobile and international models?

OnePlus has confirmed that the T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro only has a single SIM card slot while the international model supports dual SIMs. This should come as no surprise because it's exactly the same as what happened with the OnePlus 6T.

Does the international model support LTE band 71?

Although the product page didn't list it before, the international OnePlus 7 Pro does support LTE band 71. This is good news for anyone considering buying the phone directly from OnePlus.com for use on T-Mobile.

Does the phone work on Verizon in the U.S.?

Yes, I personally used the OnePlus 7 Pro with a Verizon SIM and it works just fine over their LTE network.

Does the phone support dual frequency GNSS?

I can confirm that the OnePlus 7 Pro supports dual-frequency GNSS for more accurate location tracking.

Camera

Does the OnePlus 7 Pro support video recording with the different lenses?

The OnePlus 7 Pro has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP camera, a telephoto camera, and a wide-angle camera. Sadly, video recording is only possible through the main 48MP camera, though OnePlus says "we will enhance the video recording functionality when the feature is ready."

Does the OnePlus 7 Pro support Nightscape 2.0 with the different lenses?

No, you currently cannot use Nightscape with anything other than the main 48MP camera.

What is the quality of the slow motion recording and how long can it record?

The OnePlus 7 Pro can record 480fps slow motion videos at 720p resolution for up to a minute.

Why did DxOMark rate the OnePlus 7 Pro so highly? Did they get a separate firmware release?

Camera testing company DxOMark gave the OnePlus 7 Pro a regular score of 111 and a selfie score of 86. They ranked the device 3rd in their regular charts and 6th in their selfie charts. In the the review, the DxoMark testers noted that the camera firmware on their device "is not yet currently available to consumers" but will be made available "as an over-the-air update before the end of the month." This fueled speculation that DxOMark had a newer software release for their test, but OxygenOS Product Manager Jimmy Z. clarified that "there is no difference between the firmware of DxO and that user get in their hand."

Audio

How many drivers are built-in to the Bullets Wireless 2?

The new Bullets Wireless 2 Bluetooth wireless earbuds sound great, but how many drivers contribute to the sound experience?

"Bullets Wireless 2 have 3 drivers: 2 Knowles balanced armature drivers and 1 10mm dynamic driver. It can give you the better sound quality experience." - Bob X., Bullets Wireless Product Manager

Do the smartphones come with a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter?

Since the OnePlus 6T, OnePlus smartphones no longer have 3.5mm headphone jacks. OnePlus shipped a Type-C to headphone jack dongle with the OnePlus 6T, but they're not longer including the dongle with the OnePlus 7 series.

Does the OnePlus 7 Pro support audio passthrough?

Fortunately, the phone, like its predecessor, supports audio passthrough. This means it uses its own internal DAC when connecting an audio accessory via a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter.
