Perma-Root Achieved On Galaxy Nexus Thanks To Superboot

It seems that the development engines for the much awaited next gen device are set to full steam ahead. Thanks to XDA member paulobrien, Galaxy Nexus owners (the lucky ones anyways) have gotten the gift of root. This rooting method will allow anyone with a Galaxy Nexus to do all the fun things that you are used to such as back up your device with Titanium Backup, play a few games that require certain permissions out of your device and much more. The best part is that the “fix” is rather simple to apply as it requires 0 knowledge of adb, or anything even remotely related to your memory partitions. The fix is basically an insecure boot.img, which gets flashed onto the device. The root rights get granted just as the device is booting, so you basically just sit back and relax while your device gets rooted with this simple to use tool.

Paulobrien has provided versions of this tool for various OS (Windows, MacOS, and Linux), so regardless of what you are running on your PC box, you have a tool to get the Galaxy Nexus running just the way you like it. Please take this for a spin and leave some feedback if you run into any problems.

Superboot is a boot.img that when booted, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK).
