Swipe Prediction to the Max With TouchPal for Android
There are quite a few alternative options when it comes to keyboards in the world of Android. It isn’t that the good people at Google don’t know how to make keyboards, but the fact that people are always looking around to make their life a bit simpler by typing less and more accurately. We are all familiar with a small app called Swype, which was a revolutionary concept in the world of touch input options. The program is great, but since it is not commercially available, the only two legal ways to own this software is by having a device licensed with it, or to be part of their beta testing program. What if you cannot do either of these? Well, XDA member TouchPal brings us a solution for all the those unsupported devices by Swype. TouchPal is built around a similar concept as that of Swype, where you can swipe your finger across the keyboard instead of typing. However, this program seems to have a much beefier smart predictions engine, which in turn would allow you to swipe over a couple of letters and get a full word as opposed to swiping over 3 or 4 letters before a good suggestion pops up. The dev has also posted a video in which they even show someone swiping on a blank touch input keyboard with the app actually recognizing the swipes.
The app is currently in closed beta, but you can easily have access to it by sending the dev an e-mail. Please leave your feedback for him if you do get into the beta testing program.
Why bother to use unlicensed Swype on your phone? The most innovative soft keyboard, 2009 GSMA Mobile Innovation Champion – TouchPal Keyboard is coming!

Smartwatches still have a lot of growing up to do. Not too long ago the latest Canalys figures revealed a rather disappointing outcome for 2014, something we covered with the ultimate conclusion that, once again, smartwatches had no year. The direction of smartwatches is unclear to even the biggest OEMs, and with every new option there seems to be polarizing dissonances from what people and OEMs want and what they both think they want. We've documented many of the reasons as to...
