XDA:DevCon 2013 – Thanks are in Order

XDA DevCon 13 Logo

So it’s been a week  since XDA:DevCon 13 passed, and I am still blown away by the excitement, energy, and community that flowed out of the event. With top-notch speakers and sponsors giving their all, and a hotel staff that was committed to making sure everything went smoothly, there was hardly a chance for Uncle Murphy (the bad luck icon, not our amazing opening speaker Mark Murphy) to make an appearance.

Going into this event I didn’t know what to expect—much like when you and your significant other find yourselves expecting a child, you spend months planning something, but you still don’t know what is really in store. Is it going to come out looking like this or more like this?

The Next Big [Case] and New Storefront

xda-cruzerlite

One of the most popular forums on XDA as of late is the Samsung Galaxy S4 and its US carrier variants (T-Mobile, Sprint and their bootloader-locked siblings on AT&T and Verizon). This is with good reason, as the device boasts top-of-the-line specs as well as pretty heavy backing from a marketing machine around the world. What is of great benefit to you, the user community, is that accessories (like cases) are interchangeable across the variants. And that’s where our partner CruzerLite comes in.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, not only have you missed some great seasons of Doctor Who and The Big Bang Theory, but you’ve probably missed the emergence of CruzerLite . . . READ ON »

XDA Molded Case for HTC One Available Now

xdadev-htcone-banner

XDA encourages collaboration between developers and within the community, so it’s only fair that we seek out opportunities to do so ourselves. Working with the fine folks at Cruzerlite is just such an example. We’ve done some great shirts and a good assortment of cases for the top devices out there, and the response from the community has been spectacular.

Now, we are happy to announce a new case to add to the collection: the HTC One XDA Molded Case. The cases are molded into high-quality TPU to provide the most protection while remaining amazingly thin. The sleek, lightweight design of the case fully wraps around the HTC One, while at the same time raising the front of the phone to protect the s. . . READ ON »

CONTEST: Crowdsourcing the Design for the Next XDA Merchandise

Vote_for_Design

crowd·sourc·ing

noun \ˈkrau̇d-ˌsȯr-siŋ\   : the practice of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting contributions from a large group of people and especially from the online community rather than from traditional employees or suppliers

At XDA, you could say we specialize in crowdsourcing. You could even say that we had it perfected before it became hip. Our developers routinely participate in Open Source projects, which epitomize the very definition of crowdsourcing. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that we are seeking your input into something carrying the XDA-Developers brand.

Thanks to CruzerLite, XDA has been selling some great t-shirts and cases at ph. . . READ ON »

Vote_for_Design

At the end of last year, we started selling XDA cases with our friends at CruzerLite, and we’ve seen some phenomenal interest. Our current lineup is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and the Google Nexus 4—but we want to add more. So we have decided to hold a poll and let the users choose which device(s) to add to our current lineup.

Below you will find some of the top devices at XDA. Please choose one from the list that you would like to see offered, and we will pick from the top 3 devices. The voting ends on February 15, so make sure you place your vote for the devices you love!

EDIT: The results are in, and displayed below. We’ll keep you updated as to the final options . . . READ ON »
