Apparently, Dell likes to put updates on its servers before they’re served to customers over-the-air. It has done so with the recent Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Streak 5, and it’s now doing the same for the bigger Streak 7.
Forum member TheManii has found the 514 ROM on Dell’s servers, in four versions for US/European and 3G/WiFi versions, respectively. The changes are not exactly known yet, but it seems to fix some issues introduced with the Android 3.2 Honeycomb update from October.
- Next to nothing over 506/7
- Tablet market removed
- Standard market added
- Minimal driver changes(?)
- Latest standard market
- Stage 1.7 update on market
If you can’t wait for the OTA to hit, which “may not be till the end of the month”, then head over to the forum thread to get the download links.

Once again, the voices of the people have been heard by our administrators and as such we have added forums for development, general talks, and apps for 3 new devices (many of them not even out yet). The Motorola Milestone series adds yet another member to its clan with the Milestone 2. Other growing players in the mobile world are coming out with more advanced devices to try and compete with giants like HTC and Samsung, so we figured we would provide them with a good fighting chance as well. The Dell Streak 7 and the Sony Ericsson Arc, which will also be debuting soon, have been added as well. It is good to note that all three of these device manufacturers have implemented tougher than usual anti-rooting techniques in order to “protect” their devices. So, here is our chance to show them that “resistance is futile”
So, do you plan on getting any of these? If so, head over to the fora and share what you may have or know.
Go to the Milestone 2 Home.
Go to the Streak 7 Home.
Go to the Arc Home.
