Want to control your music without having to unlock your device? With this new mod by member ihtfp69, now you can. The mod not only offers music controls (back, previous, play and pause ) but also enables the rotary unlock button and menu unlock for Sense. According to the developer, this is the first time this has been accomplished on Sense framework for Froyo.
The mod is only available for a few ROMs for the Droid Incredible, but we are expecting more compatibility soon. Other requirements are:

- You must be using one of the supported ROMs.
- Your ROM must be deodexed.
- If you are using the HTC clock for your alarms, you will have to install the vanilla clock and use it’s alarms instead.
- If you have a request for support on another ROM, just ask. I may even put a tutorial together on how to mod your own framework.
Make sure to read the instructions and notices carefully before proceeding. A (Nandroid) backup is always recommended before applying modifications like this. Check out the thread for all info and download.

Although the splash screen only shows up for a few seconds when booting your phone, that doesn’t mean that it is not important for the whole design experience. A nice looking splash image really refreshes the phone.
Now, there are a lot of custom splash screens available, and there are many to choose from. However, there might be just one specific image you really want to have as a splash screen. XDA member deficitism created a guide to make this possible for you. Using various tools, you will quickly create your own splash screens using the graphics you want.

This is a quick tutorial on creating your own custom splash1 image along with a flashable hboot package.
**Remember, in order to flash custom splash1 screens via hboot, you must have s-off via unrevoked forever.
***I take no responsibility for any damage you cause by performing any of these steps. They are for educational purposes only.
The guide includes a ‘android-info.txt’, which is specifically for the Droid Incredible. In order to flash it to another device, you will have to change the information inside that txt file.

HTC has just confirmed via Twitter that today will indeed be the day that owners of Verizon’s Droid Incredible will finally get a taste of Froyo, as an official update rolls out across the US. This announcement comes amid strong speculaton that such an update was imminent, and by the time you read this article the package should be available for download to your device.
Although unofficial, Froyo-based ROMs have been available for the Droid Incredible for some time, the official release will see much better integration of the new Android release with the phone’s hardware in addition to HTC’s appealing Sense interface.
Among the improvements, are the ability to record video in 720p resolution, support for 802.11n specification WiFi and Flash 10.1 in the improved browser.
Although the update should find its own way to your phone, you can force your Incredible to check for updates by selecting Settings, About phone and then System software updates, then by pressing the ‘check now’ button.
You can follow discussion about the official release in the Droid Incredible section.
Do you remember The Tamagotchi? A handheld digital pet created in Japan in 1996 that sold more than 70,000,000 units world-wide as of 2008.
XDA member Whoareyou presents Tamagotchi for Android devices with HVGA/QVGA/WVGA resolutions.
Four different games are presented by developer: Tamagotchi Angel, Tamagotchi Monster as the main ones, the other two versions are very similar and still on developing stage, so if you like them please leave feedback so future versions can be improved.

The Motorola Droid 2 had just been released, and XDA member invisiblek managed to port the Multitouch keyboard from the Droid 2 to many Android devices, such as the Motorola Droid and the Droid Incredible. Thanks to the multitouch function, this keyboard should allow for a much better typing experience. You can install it via recovery on your HTC Droid Incredible, and it should work on the following ROMs:

We hope to see some enhancements to this port, so everyone can enjoy its multitouch features.

Browsing the forums, we came across this very nice HTC Sense theme by XDA member cubanaso. Inspired by GTX, the theme delivers a great clean look with nice white aesthetics. You need to flash it from Recovery, which means it will only work on rooted devices. Originally, Detox Desire was created for the HTC Desire by cubanaso, but XDA member USAsokr decided to make the theme compatible with the Droid Incredible. However, some changes have been made to the design, so the themes are not exactly the same.

First off, I want to thank for this great community that XDA has created. I also want to thank El Condor for his great work on the GTX theme it inspired me to create this theme. Thanks to the themers out there in the nexus community. Big ups to manup for his great guides on nexus-nation and jmotyka for all his help. I started this theme by putting together a collection pngs’ from different roms while focusing on simplicity. I then started editing all the png’s from the ground up. Lastly thanks paul for his great desire port! if it wasnt for that I would have never been able to create this theme. I posting a teaser pic to gauge interest from the community. The release of this theme depends solely on the interest of the community members, so the more interest the sooner I release it. Hope you guys enjoy!

- updated the theme to match Cubanaso’s new 1.3 update.
- Modified sense apps to match theme. (I applied the same changes in Cubanaso’s Detox Desire v1.3 apps to the stock DInc apps)
- Fixed some graphics I forgot to change in the first one. For example the notification tray is now properly themed.
- Fonts taken from Detox Desire v1.3 (included in new zip) (If you don’t like them from the look of the screenshots, just delete /system/fonts/ from the zip)
- Does not include Services.jar from 1.3 update. (When time permits… gotta learn how.. Busy… If anyone else wants to give it a shot, go for it)
I still can’t change that USB icon or the VZW backup icon.
It’s nice to see more themes coming, and we definitely hope this will encourage more people to make their themes.
Check out the Desire thread and the Droid Incredible thread for installation instructions and download.
One good thing about the Android interface, is the ability to skin it. The common Android interface is somewhat boring, and although rumors tell us the interface will be completely revamped in the next version, a lot of people think it could definitely use some fancy eye-candy. XDA member jonnybueno created a red theme for the Droid Incredible, which includes hundreds of redrawn graphics. All these graphics fit each other perfectly, which creates a great overall look.

The developer promises that there will be a lot more coming soon, so if you don’t like this one, maybe the following themes are more your cup of tea!

Having a flashlight on your device is becoming a necessity for just about all Windows and Android phone owners. Well, it seems XDA member JaydenR found the need for this on his Droid Incredible. So, he extracted the application from Android 2.2 build on the HTC Desire. This application does not need root access to use, so you simply need to install it and find your way around your dark house.
This is the Flashlight apk from the 2.2 Froyo Desire rom. No root is needed and it uses the screen instead of the camera led’s.
Still it’s pretty sweet and looks awesome.
Credit to udK who dropped this rom. All I did was pull it and post it.
Now to answer some questions:
Why do I need this?
Will this break my phone?
Don’t know. Depends what you use it for.
Will this void my warranty?
Its a non root stock HTC apk
Will it help me find my long lost brother?
Can I get this from the market?
How do I install this?
Log off, turn your computer off and please walk away. Seriously
Blind your friends with this APK file, which can be found in the application thread.

After the successful project of hacking the Nexus One camera software to let it record 720p videos, developers have started to work on a similar hack for other Android Snapdragon devices. Devices mentioned are the HTC Incredible and Desire. There are some developers active at Freenode, but now another developer and XDA member, charnsingh_online, has called for testers of his 720p hack.
This could mean that we can expect a release of this hack soon. But before we get there, there is a serious need of a bunch of testers that can help testing the hack and giving feedback. There are some requirements you have to meet to be able to try it out:

Only Incredible and Desire users are asked to participate at the moment. You need to have a vanilla ROM, which means that ROMs with HTC Sense will not work with the hack.
Continue on to the hack thread if you would like to give it a shot. If you think you can actively help in development, make sure to join ##incredibleroms on irc.freenode.net.
It had to happen sooner or later. The Unrevoked Team devs over at the Incredible forums have finally rooted the HTC Incredible. XDA member Shadowmite says in his thread that they have successfully rooted two devices, but at the moment it isn’t a process that is easy to replicate. The details are rather scarce and it seems that the process is actually rather complex, so until the process has been perfected, you may want to avoid trying it yourself if you are not too familiar with rooting.
I will add more to this as we get further, thanks go to the Unrevoked devteam!
Before this goes nuts. Yes, we got two phone’s rooted. I will update here if we find a way to make it likely and/or with more details. But suffice to say, at the moment its not very repeatable. We are working on many methods still, but this will be useful in many ways.
Instructions here (THIS IS VERY HARD TO USE!) (NO, YOU DONT NEED TO DOWNGRADE):
To find more information, please visit the rooting thread.
Well, due to the huge popularity of this device (even before being released in the US), XDA-Developers now has added a section dedicated exclusively for discussion and development for the HTC Incredible. If you already have one (or are expecting to get one soon), head over there for the latest news and updates on everything from themes, apps, and yes, new roms as well.
