Not too long ago, we brought you news that allowed HTC EVO 4G LTE users to customize their bootloaders. The process was pretty cool, allowing users to make their bootloader look however they want—including making it look unhacked. After the initial project was released, users clamored for this to be made available to more devices. The requests were heard and responded to. Now, the plugin has been made available to make the bootloader customizer for a number of HTC devices.
The process for a developer to port this is not hard. XDA Recognized Contributor regaw_leinad, who developed the application and plugin, takes a time out from the stags (yes, that’s really him) to explain how:
it’s basically all written, they just need to fill in the values for their hboot, and embed the hboot.img into the exe. I already have a placeholder for the hboot.img and android-info.txt so a drag and drop over them should keep it embedded.
Regaw_leinad is also creating the application for the supported devices, but wanted to release the plugin first so users had a chance to get it sooner. The current list of supported HTC devices include:
While the list is quite large, one must keep in mind that not all of these devices have S-Off, and users must have S-Off in order to actually use this application. To get started, visit the original thread.
It’s incredibly frustrating when audio doesn’t work right. As many different things we use our devices for, one of the key features in these scenarios is that they involve sound. When the audio is messed up, it can really throw off user experience, and turn what should be an a great ROM into something no one wants to use. Owners of the HTC Inspire 4G have been running into said problems recently, most notably with using Boot Manager with CM7 and MIUI. Now, there’s a fix.
The fix, released by XDA Senior Member elbermu, is actually a modified version of InspireMod, but it adds a couple of extra files to help make the audio work again. The mod is easy to install, as it’s just a recovery-flashable update.zip. Elbermu explains the contents a little more clearly:
AIC3254_REG_DualMic_MCLK.csv and CodecDSPID_MCLK.txt.
NOTE: installing this in another ROMs may break sound (mic included) specially ICS. I’m not responsible for anything that may happen.
MAKE A BACKUP FIRST
Don’t attempt to use this fix on any ROM that isn’t in the aforementioned list, as it will likely do nothing more than break your audio altogether. And while fixes are nice, half working audio is better than no audio at all. In case this doesn’t work for you, you must either restore a Nandroid backup or navigate to /system/etc in your favorite file root-enabled manager and deleted the files manually.
If you’re having audio problems on your Inspire, hit up the original thread to get your fix.

Up, up, down, down, menu, back, power. Sound familiar? If you’ve ever used a standard Android recovery, I’m sure it does. Why is it that accessing the recovery partition on a modern, touch-screen device feels a little like entering the Konami code? Thanks to 4EXT Recovery Touch by XDA forum member madmaxx82, this is no longer the case for the HTC Sensation, Desire S, Incredible S / 2, Desire HD / Inspire 4G, and Desire Z /G2.
Making full use of the your touchscreen, EXT4 Recovery Touch allows you to accomplish all the typical Android recovery fare in a touch-friendly manner. Additionally, the recovery is extremely themeable, meaning that you can customize the recovery to your heart’s delight. If that’s not enough, the recovery even detects and displays your local time. Those concerned about performance needn’t worry, as the developer assures us that speed is unhindered due to the asynchronous UI rendering and a low overhead. The feature list, according to the developer:
- includes all of the many features from 4EXT Recovery Classic, see 2nd post
- brand new user interface: “4EXT UI”
- touchscreen only!
- extreme theming capabilities!
- nearly ALL YOU SEE is changeable.
- “worker bar”: create your own custom animations, there are (nearly) no limits! Use any shapes/sizes/animations et.c.
- extra low cpu needed for that: absolutely no negative impact on backup/restore speed.
- async UI rendering for optimal performance for the “heavy tasks” like backup/restore
- based upon the extremely, rock solid version 4EXT Recovery Classic v2.2.7 RC5
- with little enhancements: “preserve theme” now works
- Detects your local time zone
- Displays your local time
- Correct time is used for backups you start from within recovery
- .. explore the new interface to see more
Looking to get in on the action? Just head over to the appropriate recovery threads to get started:

If you have an HTC Desire HD / Inspire 4G this may be of your liking. XDA member Euphorie made some versions of the App drawer/Rosie transparent. This mod will work on the Android Revolution 6.1.0 ROM and can be found in three different versions:
– 5×5 Appdrawer + 75% transparency background
– 5×5 App Drawer + 75% transparency background + no scroll stops
– 75% transparency background + no scroll stops
The developer is also open if you have any special background transparency percentage request.

It seems HTC is very active this month as we have seen the announcements regarding several new Android devices such as the Bliss, the Sensation XE (Europe only for now), and Runnymede. Talking about the latter, we have interesting news.
Based on XDA Recognized Developer capychimp´s work, XDA member proxuser presents the first Runnymede Sense 3.5 Android 2.3.5 ROM for the HTC Desire S. This version of Sense 3.5 is different from what we have seen on ROMs based on the Bliss leak, which it was like a transition step into this new Sense.
This version is based on the WWE RUU 0.82.401.1 and just like with any first version, some bugs are expected. Sure we will see more devices with Runnymede ROM´s pop out on the following days.

This has been a very busy week in terms of HTC news and to finish it, lucky owners of HTC Desire HD and Inspire can now enjoy the first custom ROM loaded with Sense 3.5. XDA Recognized Developer capychimp, responsible for bringing you the first ROM with fully working Sense 3.0, amazes us again with the latest installment of HTC’s famous Sense UI. This ROM is based on Bliss WWE RUU 1.10.401.0 Android 2.3.4.
This is the first release and some bugs are expected but as with other releases, you just need to give it some time for it to be fully functional. Please let the developer know about your experience with the ROM by leaving your feedback.

Without further introduction, we continue with the second part of this interview with XDA Recognized Developer capychimp; in case you missed it, part one can be found here.
orb3000: What were the main obstacles you found during the process of cooking the first Kingdom Sense 3.0 version?
capychimp: the main thing was the mic, no matter what I did I could not get non HTC apps to work, until some friendly user, who I sadly forgot the name of, gave me a hint on libaudio.so, rmk and I thought it was all ok using the one from kingdom cause of the hardware and so, but there was a slight change anyways and got fixed with changing the lib to one made for Desire HD, and then of course making things look good, but now we kinda got the hang of it .
orb3000: You are also well known for giving great (almost real time) support for members using your ROMs, how do you manage?
capychimp: well, I try to give the support I can, I get great tips and suggestions all the time, so only fair to share back, lucky I have a job where I can use a lot of time on xda if things are working at my job I actually do nothing (great job hehe) but sometimes I take a break on a day or two to kinda get head cleared, but it is a lot of work and time, and wife is not always happy about it.
orb3000: We know you are on version 1.7 or your Kingdom series, what are the bugs/fixes/problems yet to be solved on future versions?
capychimp: still some sizing issues, SRS is still an annoying thing, but we got it on a temp fix by music player from Desire HD Gb Sense 2.1.
orb3000: Do you think you are close to get a final version? If so, when we can expect it?
capychimp: I don’t think there ever would be a final version, well unless HTC release Sense 3 then it’s just to mod a stock ROM, many Chefs do that so question is if I would do it too, I mean anyone can mod a stock ROM and have a great ROM, theme it and be popular, but what’s the fun in that? The fun is porting something not meant to work on your device, so on Kingdom there would probably always be something, a lot of users on xda so always one who finds something, but I think once SRS, video playback switching between land and portrait fixed we are close on something like a final.
With this question we close the second part of this interview and we hope you are enjoying it so far. If so, please let us know what you would want us to ask on the third and last part.
June 18, 2011 By: orb3000
If you have an HTC Desire HD or Inspire 4G, surely you are aware of the great ROMs made by XDA Recognized Developer capychimp. He was one of the first Chefs presenting a Kingdom based ROM with Sense 3.0 fully working. We wanted to know a bit more on how capy made this possible, so please join us on this interview and feel free to send us any specific question you’d want us to add to the interview.
orb3000: Many thanks for your time on the interview. How did you get started with cooking?
capychimp: Well I bought a HTC Magic phone back in days, because I heard you could put the sense software from hero on it, so why pay more when you could “upgrade” so that made me google how to, which lead me to the unlock for rooting it, and then how to find a ROM, which linked to XDA. At first I was just a big noob at flashing ROM´s, but with time I got tired of all the apps put in from the chefs, so I decided to learn how to sign a ROM, so I could remove apps and add what I wanted. So, I grabbed the best ROM for the phone and started that, but with time it was not enough, so little by little searching XDA, yes I actually searched the forum, I learned more and more (should be a hint that the search can take you far).
orb3000: Did you have ROM´s for other devices?
capychimp: I made ROM´s for HTC Magic only, but wanted a new phone. So, now I cook for the DHD and also got a working ROM on the Sensation too (just tested by a nice guy) but in HTC Magic I teamed up with robocik, who went on Hero, so we worked close and could port most things to both Magic and Hero as they are close. This allowed bug tracking and fixes for each other. Hence, the name RCmix R for robocik and C for capychimp and mix, cause we port as our strong feature.
orb3000: Regarding your Kingdom series ROM´s for DHD and Inspire. How did you start on this?
capychimp: Kingdom started of course because it was Sense 3, but took some time until diamondking started hex editing which got me going in it too, and the RMK from G2 and I teamed up on a joint release for our devices and sharing info, the Rosie and lock screen got edited in the m10 tools by Diamondback and Flemmard, and with time improved in the layouts and values, but the real kickoff was after trying the first pyramid, more guys got their eyes opened and that gave some help on it, so what started it was a Dev forum wanting to work together.
Here we close the first part of the interview. Let us know if you have questions for capy.
That´s the magic of XDA! When you think you´ve seen it all, you get something new and exciting. This time, XDA member Natkaffe pointed us to the first ROM from HTC Flyer ported for Desire HD and Inspire 4G. The rom comes loaded with full landscape support. However, this ROM is at early stages of development but according to the original poster, it is good enough to be used as daily. There are several non-working features as of yet:
– Car panel
– Almost every app needs some resizing
– Gallery starts, but doesn’t show pictures
– Most popup window needs resizing
– Touch keys don’t work in landscape
– Keyboard is too big, many letters are unavailable
– Weather animation for weather clock is not in the right place
Everything else is fully functional such as mail, SMS, youtube, social media, calendar, -camera/camcorder, clock, friend-stream, HTC hub, HTC likes, browser, locations, mail, market, and more.
This ROM should be installed only if you have some experience flashing ROMs.

hey here is a HTC Flyer rom for dhd and inspire phones
The rom is good enough to be used as daily, just put a different keyboard and it should be fine for you.
Works reported by liljom:
every function is available (some cases is landscape mode) in:
-press reader (as far as I went without registration)
-setup (where no keyboard is needed)

If you are old enough or still have a WM device, you may remember how well received transparency mods were. If you own a Desire HD, Inspire 4G or similar, then check out this beauty for your Android made by XDA member lalitsehgal21. All you need to do is to flash the new modded ROM, the transparency 4 coredroid ver6.1 by Sergio76, apply 6.1 update file, and enjoy a clear view.
Having fun with it? Please leave your feedback.

Good day for all of us waiting for Sense 3.0 to be already on our screens! XDA members capychimp and rmk40 got the first 100% working ROM´s for HTC Desire HD and Desire Z, including their variants the Inspire 4G and G2. The weather animations are working smooth and general performance is quite good -tested on Inspire 4G- but as any first version some stuff must be modified to make it work even better.
Remember to fully read the instructions before you start, it´s a delicate process.
Please leave your feedback.

Welcome to our latest creation, Virtuous Fusion. It is the first fully functional, properly scaled Sense 3.0 ROM for the G2/DZ. Before going any further, it is important to note that Fusion is a different product than base Virtuous. The “Fusion” ROM will exist until Sense 3.0 has natively become available on our devices, if ever. Virtuous proper will continue to be updated and maintained as it always has been, following official HTC releases.
Fusion was made possible by the amazing work of Flemmard and Diamondback, who reverse engineered the m10 format and built an encoder/decoder.
P.S. Hey Azrienoch!, you better talk about this one next week

For HTC Inspire owners, XDA forum member attn1 has put together an ‘HTC Inspire Hack Kit’ that contains everything an XDA member needs to root and Radio S-OFF the Android device.
The kit also provides the means to flash back the stock radio. S-OFF generally means a full permanent root including the fact that the NAND portion of your Android device is unlocked and can therefore be written to.
Installation instructions are provided in the archive and Linux, OSX and Windows are all supported, provided you have the right drivers installed.
More details and notes have been posted in the forum thread, so head on over to get your hands on the kit.
Every week, we select five questions and answers, found on the forums. Even though some of these questions and answers might not be of help for you, they might still be interesting to read.
Q ‘Why is the first test score in Quadrant always lower than the following ones ? ‘
A There’s no expert explanation to this fact, but we guess that it has got something to do with the OS keeping the processes and data in memory. It could also be the CPU that’s been revved up after the first test.
Q ‘How can I install apps on my Inspire 4G from the market that are blocked by AT&T?’
A The best way to avoid this is by installing Sideload Wonder Machine. It’s software for you PC, which allows you to sideload applications to your phone without directly accessing the Android Market.
Q ‘I’ve looked everywhere in the settings and can’t find a way to zoom in while taking a picture or movie. Anyone know how?’
A Use the volume keys
Q ‘How can I remove MOTOBLUR from my Motorla Milestone 2?’
A There’s no way to get rid the complete Motoblur service from your phone, you can however hide it using any other homescreen replacement such as Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher. Note that this only hides the homescreen replacement, not the other services like remote device finder etc.
Q ‘Today I noticed the screen of my Nook Color was oversensitive, it was incredibly frustrating and almost unusable. How can I solve this problem?’
If you have a burning question, make sure to search the forum first before posting. If you didn’t find the answer, you can post your question in the appropriate forum.
