The Dark Forces Team has become world-famous for their work in allowing multiple operating systems to be installed on the HTC HD2 and, more recently, for releasing custom Windows 7 Mango ROMs for HTC’s first-generation WP7 devices. If you appreciate their work and would love to find a way to give something back (without necessarily knowing anything about development), now may be your chance.

Over in the Windows Phone 7 development section, XDA member mwang has created a thread asking for the help of international users in translating some terms needed in order to make the camera app in the aforementioned WP7 ROMs more accessible to those who do not speak English. mwang has put up the code with the words requiring translations highlighted in red. Requested are translations into the following languages:

  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • French
  • Italian
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Dutch
  • Danish
  • Finnish
  • Norwegian
  • Swedish
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Greek
  • Hungarian
  • Czech
  • Polish

Although some translations have already been provided, there’s still a large chance that you could help out. Visit the translation thread for more information.

Awesomeness: HTC HD Pro Concept

Browsing through the Windows Mobile Themes section, I discovered a post from XDA member JWang158. He created this awesome render, depicting the HTC Mondrian, or as he calls it, the HD Pro. Although there aren’t really technical thoughts behind the whole concept, the design of it looks extremely futuristic and well-thought.

Following the footsteps of Livven and ElCondor, I decided to make an HTC Mondrian concept myself.
Ladies and gents, I present to you, the HTC HD Pro Concept!

Check out the concept thread, and remember to post some feedback and give the designer a thumbs up!

HTC Mondrian Concepts

The recent leak of the ROM from the HTC Mondrian has inspired xda-members and news writers ElCondor and Livven to create some design concepts for this very first Windows Phone 7 device by HTC.

As there are no leaked images of the actual device yet, both concepts have their own interesting and unique features: While ElCondor’s has a very elegant feel with a slightly brushed aluminium look to it, Livven’s is largely based on the design of the first Touch Diamond. Here are some thoughts from ElCondor about his concept:

Many HTC Mondrians have been floating around lately. Because the Mondrian is my dream device, I decided to make a concept that comes as close as possible to HTC’s way of design. If you take a look at the phone, you’ll notice that the buttons come straight from HTC Android devices. First I wanted to create a small ‘chin’, just like the Desire, but it broke the design. The shiny brushed metal at the bottom of the devices is inspired by the same metal used in the HTC Wildfire. The Wildfire is the newest design from HTC, so I think it’s pretty logical that they will keep the design like this. Although the concept looks pretty big, it’s smaller than the HD2, with WVGA resolution and an 1,3Ghz Snapdragon processor.
