There are many mixed feelings regarding HTC Sense. Some people really love it, and some people absolutely hate it. There are even those who think it’s just mediocre. Wherever your preferences may fall, you still probably enjoy making your Sense look unique. Because let’s be honest, who wants their phone to look like everyone else’s? That is why we are here on XDA—to make these devices look and behave amazingly.

As anyone running Sense knows, you can download a skin from HTC or use one of the three built in Skins to make your device a little more unique. What if that isn’t enough? You could go to the Google Play Store and download one of the amazing Skins off there. But again, what if that skin has just that one little thing that isn’t exactly to your liking?

XDA Recognized Themer knightwolf123 may just have your answer. He has created an assortment of 17 different skins you can download. And if you can’t find quite what you are looking for, he has gone so far as to type out a guide to create your own. He also includes instructions on turning your favorite theme into Sense skin, with permission of course.

Both guides are very easy to follow and outline all of the details needed to create your own Skin. This makes it very easy for you to get in and get your hands dirty. Maybe thanks to knightwolf123‘s guides, you will create the next popular Sense skin on XDA. Continue to the original thread to check out his gallery of skins, and hopefully learn a little something while you’re at it.

Lock Ring

Despite how many consider HTC Sense 3.0 and 3.5 as being very bloated, there is at least one place where HTC hit a home run–the lock screen. The customizable Sense lock ring is, far and wide, one of the most popular and functional lock screens. Of course, for rooted users it only gets better, as they can actually modify the lock ring to make it look how they want.

XDA Senior Member mohit1234 has written up a tutorial on how to theme lock rings for HTC Sense 3.0 and 3.5 that outlines the correct file size and the exact steps to take if you happen to own Photoshop. Additionally, the guide author also takes requests for lock rings, and the collection is already pretty extensive. While there are other guide threads available to accomplish the same, this one is among the most detailed and universal out there.

Despite being written for the HTC Amaze 4G, most of the steps can be used with other Sense 3.0 and 3.5 devices, as long as users take note of the appropriate PNG size for their display resolution, and modify the way it gets packaged. There are a few drawbacks, however. Mohit1234 does’t quite explain how to package the lock rings into a flashable update.zip, although we have covered update.zip creators in the past. Furthermore, users have to modify the individual APK of any Sense 3.0 or 3.5 skin they’re using to apply their lock ring.

For additional information, screen shots of the many lock rings already created, and additional tips and tricks, visit the modification thread.

Remember how Google announced during the I/O conference that devices would have a support life (meaning updates) up to 18 months of their release date? Well, it seems that HTC is being true to Google’s words. There was a statement a while back that said that the Desire S would not have support for Sense 3.0. Well, guess what just rolled into XDA member andy1120‘s phone as an OTA update? It seems that the lucky owners are in Orange in the UK. The update has been confirmed by quite a few blogs and on top of that, the OP has provided screen shots that clearly show the device running Sense 3.0 with Android 2.3.5. Quite a few people are still waiting for the OTA to roll in, but it looks like this unannounced, much needed update is the real deal.

The question now becomes, which phone will be next? Please share your experiences with other Desire S owners if you happened to receive this little gift.

Just got up and noticed there is an update showing on my Desire S, downloaded it and it adds Sense 3.0, software version is now 2.10.401.4 and Android version 2.3.5.

You can find more information in the original thread.

So, you just bought a Sensation and just when you get it on your hands, HTC announces an update. Well, don´t worry because XDA Recognized Developer mike1986. just cooked a new ROM based on the Sensation XE with Beats Audio technology, and moreover it comes overclocked to 1.5 GHz with real dual core support.

Other nice stuff included is the improved Andreno200 configuration, it has enabled GPU UI rendering, SD Card speed tweak, battery auto-calibration, a data partition special speed tweak, and the 3D Engine was overclocked from 266.6 MHz to 320 MHz.

Give it a try and let the developer know about your experience by leaving your feedback.

It’s hard to deny that the HTC Sensation is a good looking device: HTC’s instantly recognisable taste in hardware styling combined with a revamped Sense interface running on a qHD resolution, 4.3″ screen really make for a treat to the eyes. Yet, in some places the device doesn’t seem as aesthetically polished as you might expect.

XDA member and Sensation owner binarybulge was disappointed to find that the navigation bar running along the bottom of the Sense homescreen just wasn’t up to scratch for the phone’s high-res display, with incongruously jaggy lines and a lack of transparency. To fix this, the developer replaced the stock Sense skins with a customised, fixed and obviously much better looking navigation bar graphic.

If you’ve also noticed the problem and would like a way around it, hit up the development thread for more information and download links.

Do you know how dual core processors work? They contain two central processing units integrated into one circuit, just think of it as a four-lane highway as opposed to a two-lane one. Dual-core processors can handle twice as much data without making the processors themselves any faster.

XDA Recognized Developer mike1986. presented today the first HTC Sensation ROM capable of full dual-core support. Basically, this means that you will take full advantage of the new processor giving you more smoothness and perhaps a bit more of speed when you are multi tasking on your shinny Sensation. Moreover, the CPU is automatically over-clocked up to 1.83 GHz instead the 1.29 GHz that comes by default. Lastly, the ROM is Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread from the official HTC RUU 1.45.401.2, which includes HTC Sense 3.0.

The developer mentions that the Andreno200 has improved configuration for better quality and performance.

Let us know how this is working for you by leaving a comment.
