XDA Member LORDShadowMan has just released the first beta of his app. This is a finger friendly expense tracker, which aside from helping you keep record of what you spend has other nifty features such as data interchange via XML, as well as an alarm that gets triggered when you have spent too much. The app has been designed for the HTC Diamond, which indicates that it is for VGA resolutions. However, the developer said that it should also work for other devices as well. The only drawback at this point is that the app is in German, but we will probably see improvements such as multi language support in the near future.
This app is completly in german language and build for an HTC Diamond. It works on other Devices too, but it might look a little bit different.
It was supposed to be integrated into my other app for Finances. I got stucked there because i cannot find a primary Key for my transactions. Well maybe i will continue developing the other app too.
It´s purpose is:
Write down your daily speendings.
Main Features are:

Although, this is not new, it is a very useful application that allows you to communicate with other Windows Mobile devices using your internal or external GPS unit with no Internet connection.
Developed by xda member_LEM_, CatchMe will let you find other devices to know their location.
This app can be automated to send an SMS to another device and retrieve the information of location. That information will be updated to your GPS program, if no signal is available, the app will continue trying until get´s signal to send the SMS.

This tool allows you to communicate mobile devices using your GPS and SMS messsages with no internet connection. You will be able to know how far is another phone/target and what direction you need to follow to reach it
Imagine the scenario… you are hiking with some friends in 2 different groups and later during that day you guys want to meet. How do you do that if you got a poor reception and you don’t have an internet connection?
This is what happened to me a few days ago. I got signal only for a few seconds and when I tried to make a phone call it was dropped after a while because the quality was very bad.
This program allows you to add targets. You can request the position of these targets by sending a sms message.
If your PDA cannot send the message it will keep retrying every minute.
Once the other end gets the message, CatchMe will start the GPS automatically, get a fix and send a message back to the person who made the request. Again, if there are problems sending the message CatchMe will keep trying until success.
After getting the position of the target, you can start tracking and CatchMe will tell you how far your target is and what direction you need to follow.
- You can only receive requests from phones that have been added to your list. If you get a request from an unknown phone, the message will be discarded.
– You can also associate your current position to a target. This is useful if you want to mark a checkpoint to come back later. No SMS messages are sent at this point.
– In order to use this with another person, both persons need to run this program!
– You don’t need to be tracking when using the program. You only need to do that when you are following a target.
– Auto Start and Stealth modes available
If you plan to test the program using only one phone, don’t click on ‘dismiss’ when getting your own SMS message until CatchMe has processed the message, otherwise the message will be deleted before the program can access to it.
How many times you have seen a member asking for a “how to” guide to change the language in a ROM?
This is a recurrent question amongst XDA new members. However, thanks to xda member kiliss, this is perfectly doable by simply following his comprehensive guide.
This normally works for all Windows Mobile devices: WM5, 6, 6.1, 6.5 and 6.5.x.
Based on this old method, this tutorial shows you the easy way to do it.

If you are one of those users who are simply not satisfied with your media management application in your computer, then you have to take a look at Hydros Media Center. This application is an interesting alternative to Active Sync (or WMDC if you are on Vista or later) for managing your media files on your Windows Mobile device.
Despite still being on alpha stage, this app, which was created by xda member rkrishnan2012, has many options to play with. For instance, it presents us with a Zune 4.0 type of interface for easy flow between screens and ease of transfer files onto the device.

As a model, im using many things and features which have been included in Zune Software 4.0. Anyway, I have been working on this alone for a long time and I think it’s time to reveal this to the public for some help as well. I would like to post the source code somewhere but im not sure exactly what the process is so please help me on that if you can.

- You can now delete files [New to Alpha release 4] – works now
Alpha Release 4 – 5/20/10
- Added the ability to add and remove songs in library and device library

Windows Mobile users need more options to make their Windows Mobile experience even better, and with the new powerful devices this is increasing every day. One example of this is the ExtendedFileExplorerExt cab.
Member aestivalisakito has successfully combined FileExplorerExt 2.07 and ExplorerExt into one cab file, adding more options when displaying your file explorer. This app is presented to Developers to cook in their ROMs and also to end users.

I am actually planning on making this a full UI mod eventually including tweaking for the abnormally large menus in wm 6.5
Want to say that this is merely the combination of two VERY excellent additions to file explorer for WM. Those are: FileExplorerExt 2.07 by Hou Ming and ExplorerExt by RAMMANN. So credit goes completely and totally to them.I just combined the two into a single cab. Package version for cooks is attached as well.

A few days ago you may have read about the Eclair 2.1 update to XDAndroid for the Touch Pro and Diamond (although since then many users have reported the build to be working on other devices under the XDAndroid umbrella). Well, a mere week later, babijoee and company have once again updated the GSM Touch Pro and Diamond-targeted builds, this time adding complete GPS functionality for the first time – developing credits go to phhusson, cr2 and jonpry for this latest addition.
The lack of GPS, Bluetooth and camera functionality has been a long-time gripe over in the main thread. It’s now been a few months since Bluetooth was fixed and with GPS now done away with, only the camera and video recording aspects of the Android port are left.
Builds are regularly increasing in stability and usability, with some users having used Android instead of Windows Mobile for months on end. To check out the newest version, visit the XDAndroid thread.

The XDAndroid project works on porting the Google Android operating system to popular devices traditionally running Windows Mobile. Although originally started to support this transition for the HTC Touch Pro and Diamond, the project has spread as support has grown, and users can now find Android ports for the Touch Pro2, Touch Diamond2 and Touch HD as well.
Recently, babijoee uploaded the newest XDAndroid build for the first generation Touch Pros and Diamonds, which brings a refreshing change from 2.0.1 to 2.1 in terms of Android version. Also included in the update are phaelox’s updated version of delta_foxtrot2’s ad blocker, updated effects for the navigational LEDs and improved startup configuration files.
For those of you that are not familiar with the work of NRGZ28, he is one of the most active chefs at XDA and lately (over a year or so) has increased the quantity and quality of his ROMs, which are of the Energy Series. His ROMs cover many devices including: Leo, Rhodium, Topaz, Raphael, and more.
Through this interview, we shall learn more about NRGZ28, that recently also has become a Moderator.
orb3000: Hi NRGZ28, I know I am taking your precious time so I appreciate a lot for agreeing to this interview. First, how did you get started in the gadgets/mobile/devices world?
NRGZ28: I’ve loved gadgets every since I was a little kid. Phones… a few years ago. Windows Mobile phones ? Around 2007 or so.
orb3000: XDA has played a very important role in all our lives. How would you describe your personal experience at XDA?
NRGZ28: XDA-Developers is THE site to go for anything related to Windows Mobile [and now Android]. It’s a invaluable resource that HTC and Microsoft should use more to their advantage. Although nobody can say they aren’t already doing that.
For me personally, XDA has been like a drug. Once you have a little, you can’t stop.
orb3000: What is what moves you to cook ROMs?
NRGZ28: The excitement to play with new apps, mods, builds. Everytime a new build comes down the pipe with new software in it, I’m like a kid in a candy store. And of course… I have to share that with everyone else that uses my ROMs
orb3000: You cook for so many different devices, what are the most important challenges you face?
NRGZ28: The most important challenge is, of course, keeping up with all the threads and the sheer amount of posts they all get daily. I most rely on the automated reply emails XDA sends me.
orb3000: Your Energy ROM thread in Rhodium section has almost 2 million views and is (I dare to say) the most visited thread at XDA. Talking a little bit about numbers, which are impressive for sure, tell us about the number of downloads you have per month, what is the most downloaded ROM?
NRGZ28: The most downloaded ROM has be the Blackstone series of ROMs. The HD2 comes in as a close second and third would be the Rhodium. The Touch Pro ROMs used to be most downloaded, but I would guess most people now moved to the newer, faster WVGA devices.
orb3000: You are used to receive tons of PMs, e-mails, Twitter messages, etc. asking you to include something on your next ROM, fixing this and that, but what would NRGZ28 ask of your fans?
NRGZ28: Enjoy the ROMs as delivered and customize them as you see fit. After all, that’s why there’s Salt, Pepper and sauces on every restaurant table, right ? For you to personalize your food to your taste after the chefs cooks it for you.
orb3000: What are your plans on short term? We can see you cook a ROM at least once per week (I know I´m too short on the estimate). What is what you are working into this days? Any preview you want to share with us?
NRGZ28: I’m working on also providing stock-looking, lean ROMs, such as the ROMs provided by other chefs like Dutty and Miri. That will be a while though as it requires a major restructuring of my kitchen
orb3000: Continuing into the future, what are the plans for NRGZ28 on a mid/long term? Are you planning to work with WP7? If so, what are the challenges you see coming?
NRGZ28: We’ll see what happens with WP7 when it comes out or at least when we’ll have hardware for it to play with. The biggest challenge would be “unlocking” the customizing potential of WP7 through custom ROMs of course. We’ll see…
Well NRGZ28, thank you very much for giving this interview, I know people will think, let him go back to Cook!, so congratulations for your fantastic contribution to mobile world, I am sure you will have a special place among those who opened new possibilities and challenges.
If you’d like to ask NRGZ28 a question, feel free to leave it in a comment below, and we’ll include it in part two of this interview, coming soon!
If you’re a developer/chef that wants to be interviewed, please send me a PM.

Opera is a great browser but the inability to use Flash was something that bothered a lot of users. While the guys from Opera fix this, xda-dev member aDEO created this very useful app to enable flash when using Opera.
The updated version 1.5.4 is now available, so have a read and grab it! This is the first beta supporting Opera 10. If your device is not included in the “UAProf Device” list, this tool probably will not work (though this might depend on your ROM).
After I saw few open threads about how to enable Flash into Opera browser, I decide to create this tool, which will automatically install and configure everything you need to run your Opera with Flash support.
With other words: No need to install Flash Lite… Yes, just Plug&Flash!
Find some time and read hilaireg’s post from here, who explains the exact “Flash situation”.
This flash plugin announce itself as Flash 9 compatible to play back any ActionScript 2.0 SWF content. However, it is based on Flash 8 technology and that why this plugin doesn’t support ActionScript 3.0… This is the reason why most of the sites still want to upgrade it, but some of them will work.
Every Opera 9.50/9.70 build, which support plugins and works with v2.1 initialization files. Also support latest 9.70 builds, which using registry instead of ini files.
You can try and share your experience with your version/build here, but for me Opera 9.70 #35443 is the best flash-wise build so far (my personal preference).
This tool work also on your PC, if you start it from Opera’s root folder, but this is another story…
