How many times you have seen a member asking for a “how to” guide to change the language in a ROM?
This is a recurrent question amongst XDA new members. However, thanks to xda member kiliss, this is perfectly doable by simply following his comprehensive guide.
This normally works for all Windows Mobile devices: WM5, 6, 6.1, 6.5 and 6.5.x.
Based on this old method, this tutorial shows you the easy way to do it.

Despite the large number of custom icon sets available today, it seems like we always want more nicely designed new ways of personalize our devices. This time xda member and moderator zelendel created a black set of icons for Windows Mobile. There are more than 150 different black icons including youtube, adobe, messenger and many more to choose from.
Whether you like them or not, this new set that increases the great collection we have so far thanks to the efforts of many members at XDA.

If you are one of those users who are simply not satisfied with your media management application in your computer, then you have to take a look at Hydros Media Center. This application is an interesting alternative to Active Sync (or WMDC if you are on Vista or later) for managing your media files on your Windows Mobile device.
Despite still being on alpha stage, this app, which was created by xda member rkrishnan2012, has many options to play with. For instance, it presents us with a Zune 4.0 type of interface for easy flow between screens and ease of transfer files onto the device.

For those of you who don’t know what im doing, im trying to make an efficient media player for windows which interacts with windows mobile nicely. As a model, im using many things and features which have been included in Zune Software 4.0. Anyway, I have been working on this alone for a long time and I think it’s time to reveal this to the public for some help as well. I would like to post the source code somewhere but im not sure exactly what the process is so please help me on that if you can.
Features so far:
- Music Library
- Pictures Library
- Apps Bazaar
- oms Bazaar (only for LG Incite so far -due to my lack of knoledge in xda roms-)
- Device Support [NEW for Alpha release 4] – you can add and remove songs now
- You can now delete files [New to Alpha release 4] – works now
Alpha Release 4 – 5/20/10
- Added the ability to add and remove songs in library and device library
- Fixed the comment dialog to show up (it notifies you of any things that are important…like a device being connected)
- Still uses activesync dll so you still need activesync to be installed (and I can’t distribute the dll due to legal issues).

This application, created by xda member aman11dhanpat, will let you include a php script into your device whenever you access the website way2sms.com. This will act as a SMS application for your device, but will send the messages via data rather than via your provider’s SMS service, saving you money in the process. The app was tested on an Indian free SMS web service provider.
Even though this is the first version of this tool, we can expect some improvements for upcoming versions.

Hello all guys
this is my very own 1st application
well i started it to program just for my own use but then thought of relesing it might be someone would be using it or get some use of it
well as way2sms.com provides free SMS service all over india so using it and without wasting our money much on SMS
we can send SMS
also i consider myself as a very poor coder cos i am still learning
so to reduce the DATA TRANSFER form way2sms’s site i had made a simple PHP script which will act as an intermediate for sending the SMS
i assure you that none of your DATA or personal information is saved
i’ll shortly relese the Source as well as the PHP script so that you can use it on your own website
ok so here are some of its screen shots
Some times gets hanged
Tested only on qvga only (need someone to test on other models too)
SMS bBomber is still being programmed so may be lag sometimes
Phone numbers must be edited manually(means you have to remove +91 or 0 from your number to send message manually)
as usual no search option while adding contacts
no Beta testers till now

This app is not new, but I have read some threads asking for an app like this, so it’s worth to bring it back.
XDA member w3t created this app, which transforms your Windows Mobile device into a network camera. This is very useful if you have something that requires constant remote monitoring.
This app works with WIFI connections as well as with data services from some providers, although some restrictions may apply. You need to have .NET CF 3.5 installed on your device and a user account must be created, which is provided by w3t. But more importantly, the device has to be equipped with a camera.
In the past, members reported some dificulties when configuring the parameters, but it’s working fine now and it has been tested on the HTC Diamond 2.

Welcome to tinyCAM
The idea is to use the integrated camera and be able to connect using the web browser of another computer/pda to remotely monitor what is being captured in real-time so exactly what a network camera does excepted that you don’t need any cable at all, not even a power cable…
I made the reverse project some time ago (webcamXP Mobile) allowing to view your network cameras on your PDA and this one seemed quite interesting too…
I wasn’t able to be able to act as a Web Server while on operator network (gprs, edge, …) and only got it to work over WiFi network. It seems to work for some people but most operators are blocking the fact to act as server…
Anyway, you can still use the Motion Detector + FTP upload feature in order to send the captured images to any ftp server.
You need .NET Compact Framework 3.5 and a device with integrated camera.
The default username/password to access the web server : admin/admin. You can disable authentication by setting no user name in the settings.
Setting the wifi configuration of your device on “Max Performances” might reduce the autonomy but also seems to have a significant impact on frame rate. I’m able to get up to 4-5 fps with tinyCAM 0.8.7 which is already over my initial performances expectations because i think it’s the max speed at which it’s possible to capture images from the camera (on Touch HD at least).
webcamXP (for Windows) is now supporting tinyCAM as a network capture device so you can use the free version for more advanced features and to capture the stream. If you want to use webcamXP Mobile from another PDA it’s also possible just select the webcamXP template, i’m using the same file names.

Mosatse is a sexy game that is a big success amongst iPhone users; now member y2ksatan presents this transplanted game for Windows Mobile. This is not an X-rated application, but its content has some decent nudity in it, so please be aware of this in case you or those around you have objections against this.
The game includes some pre loaded models on it, but you have the option of adding your personal models.
To run just unzip the file directly to your Windows Mobile device and execute the .exe, the0ne has posted a video of the game.

A few months ago member AndyZap presented version 3 of this GPS sports application for Windows Mobile touch screen devices.
One of the best things to talk about this GPS tool is the good graphic design it has, some other features are auto pause, time and distance tracking and map display (offline caching of maps).
Definitely a fresh good looking option for enjoying your GPS.
Yet Another GPS Tracker? – yes, but:
- this is a nice one – thanks to excellent design by expo7! And you can set your custom background and button images;
- can select GPS run interval: from “always on” to “run every 10 min” – this is useful if you want to reduce battery power usage;
- has usual cycle computer display: time, distance, speed (current, average, max) plus a graph of your track.
The tool logs GPS data into a binary file (so a lot of data can be stored in a compact form), which can be loaded back for viewing, or saved into .kml / .gpx file to view in e.g. GoogleEarth. With the latest version of GoogleMaps, you can view KML files on your phone. Just click on a kml file in file explorer. Note there is a bug in the latest GoogleMaps installation, so KML files does not work – read the manual how to fix this.
What you need to download (go for the latest version!) :
- GpsCycleComputer_X.XX.cab – the application itself. To install, copy CAB into your phone, and click on it from your phone File Explorer. The manual (file called Readme.htm) is installed on your phone, in the same folder as the application. E.g. if you install into “Internal Storage” on English Windows, the path to the application will be \Internal Storage\Program Files\GpsCycleComputer.
- GpsCycleComputerSource_X.XX.zip – A complete source code in C#, uses CF .NET 2.0. Feel free to change anything you like!

Lately on XDA, the Windows Mobile side of the forum seems dominated by all things GTX, and for good reason. This is by far one of the most popular themes ever to have graced the Windows Mobile platform and owners of WVGA devices can now enjoy the unique GTX look while making a call.
cymlxgo has recently created a phone canvas skin that matches the grey-on-white style of the original GTX Sense 2.5 theme. It replaces the traditional colours of the buttons found on the Manila-integrated dialer only – not the standard Windows Mobile canvas with rounded buttons – although most custom ROMs will already be using such a dialer.
At present, WVGA is the only resolution available, although this should satisfy owners of devices such as the Touch Pro2, Touch Diamond2, Touch HD and HD2 which have a suitably sized screen.
Check out this post to try it for yourself.
Windows Mobile users need more options to make their Windows Mobile experience even better, and with the new powerful devices this is increasing every day. One example of this is the ExtendedFileExplorerExt cab.
Member aestivalisakito has successfully combined FileExplorerExt 2.07 and ExplorerExt into one cab file, adding more options when displaying your file explorer. This app is presented to Developers to cook in their ROMs and also to end users.

- Display a horizontal scroll bar, add features column replacement
- Anti-freeze – problems at the end
- Original Combo and testing, works great.
- None that I am aware of yet, please let me know if there are.
I am actually planning on making this a full UI mod eventually including tweaking for the abnormally large menus in wm 6.5
Want to say that this is merely the combination of two VERY excellent additions to file explorer for WM. Those are: FileExplorerExt 2.07 by Hou Ming and ExplorerExt by RAMMANN. So credit goes completely and totally to them.I just combined the two into a single cab. Package version for cooks is attached as well.
- You can select any folder to display the folder tree when you tap the folder name in the upper left.
- You make up the file list in the left and right keys.
- The parent folder and press the left top of the list of files.
- Choose the first non-press file on the top of the list of files and file focus state at the end →Select and change the focus state.
- Opens with the parameter (exe files only)
- Copy Path: Copy to clipboard full path names of selected files
- Send a shortcut to the program (exe file only) Shortcut to \ Windows \ Start Menu \ Programs Create
- Open program
- And more!

We have seen a lot of applications for Windows Mobile to make your shopping more easy, this app presented by member rublopez is another great option to organize your shopping cart using a very finger friendly UI, with an iphone like interface, a light app that runs well even on older devices. You must have .NET Compact Framework 2.0 or newer installed, it’s available in English and Spanish.

PocketShopping is a totally free shopping list software that allows you to maintain a master list of products you buy on a regular basis. The user interface is similar to iPhone applications, finger-friendly, smart scrolling, gestures and animation effects.
It requires .NET Compact Framework 2.0 or later.
Thanks to Thomas Gerber for his fluid control library.
Changes of v1.5
- Fixed some bugs.
- Language is configurable from the settings dialog. Now each language is loaded from an .ini file, and therefore it is easy to translate the application to another languages.
- Added possibility to set the price for each product. By clicking on a product, a panel is displayed which lets you to set both the quantity and the price of the product. A new status bar is displayed which shows the total price of the shopping list.
- Added configuration options to show the product description, the category description and the shop description.
I have attached the English language file (english_us.zip). If you want to translate the application to another language you can create it from this file.
The CAB file includes the following languages: English and Spanish.

It has never been so easy to share your internet connection with other devices on Window Mobible. This under estimated tool that comes in almost any phone has many other great ways to share connections that we don´t even know exist. A couple of years ago member lysdexical created this app that unlocks the real potential of Internet sharing. Among other connection types, you can find: VPN to Wifi, Wifi to Bluetooth, Wifi to USB, etc. It´s worthwhile to bring back this old app back to life as it’s still actual and very useful.

ICS Control is a GUI front-end for Internet Connection Sharing, a component of Microsoft Windows Mobile. It can be configured to do a variety of things including sharing your cellular internet connection over an adhoc WiFi network.
Requirements: .NET Compact Framework 2.0 and Windows Mobile 5 or later with the IPNAT driver included (most WM6 builds have this built-in). The “Internet Sharing” application that some phones have is not required, but IPNAT is.
ICSControl is a single .exe file, included in the zip file below. You can place it directly in /Windows/Start Menu/Programs/ on your device and it will appear as an icon in Programs. Or you can place it elsewhere and create a shortcut.
Comments, bug reports, and requests are welcome.
- Added host names from DHCP leases to DMZ and InternalHost dropdown lists.
- DHCP Lease editing is completed.
- Virtual Server (aka incoming port mapping) configuration is completed.
- Application definitions (aka outgoing port triggers) configuration is completed.
- Added really simple icons.
- Attempts to accomodate weird ipnat driver configurations.
- Other minor changes/fixes.

Most of you will agree that a nicely designed icon is always welcome.
