HTC Tasks – an application using the Sense SDK to manage your Outlook tasks. I always wondered why my HD2 did not come with a replacment app for the stock tasks application, especially since Sense replaces almost everything. Anyway, I downloaded eboelzner’s Sense SDK and startet writing this little app today.

Requirements:

  • Windows Phone 6.x
  • .netCF 3.5
  • (W|Q)VGA device

Current features (very basic):

  • Add Task
  • Localization (English, German, Spanish; auto-detect language)
  • Sense UI
  • change task status
  • change importance
  • change subject
  • Future Features:
  • Settings
  • Change other task properties (description, due date, etc.)
  • maybe other languages
  • images showing importance.

GTX Inspired Showcase Skin

May 8, 2010   By:

GTXShowcasePreview

One of the most annoying things about WM devices is that by default you can only close an app by clicking on the start menu, settings, system, memory, and then running programs tabs. Most of the cooked ROM´s have included a better option for task managing, like e-Natives:

e-Natives Showcase is a free Finger Friendly and Resource Friendly Task Manager with professional skinning and a easy to use interface. It helps you control the running processes on your device, you have the ability to review all running processes, the memory usage and many other options.

Member ebbinger_413 has created a nice skin for the E-Natives task manager, Give it a try if you are bored with your actual look of your task manager app.

This great app by ktemkin is not new but it´s worth to bring it back.
Android user have the tapatalk app for xda but there’s not much available for the Windows Mobile crows. So what could be better than a special app to browse xda developers on your Windows Mobile phone? With this app you can see xda in a great format, which is specially adjusted to fit mobile screens, no need to open your browser to navigate, post, download or upload to xda!

Now, the Mobile XDApp gives you options to help eliminate load times and increase your productivity as you view fourms, read and reply to posts, start new threads, upload files, download files, manage your account and more!
Features:

  • GZIP compression, which decreases load times by more than 80%. That’s more efficient than Opera Mini! See below for compression statistics.
  • Full, automatic authentication protocols mean you never have to waste time logging in again!
  • Automatic server-side thumbnailing of images for much reduced image transfer.
  • Unique ‘superheader’ view organizes forums, making it easier to navigate the forums!
  • Near-complete features:
  • Edit your posts.
  • Pre-fetching allows commonly viewed threads to load when you first start the app, completely eliminating load times later.

CapScr0002

This small tool created by XDA member copenhagen will let you know how much time your Windows Mobile device has been turned on, great to do some battery tests with different ROM´s, different batteries or to do some benchmarking.
This application can be used on all Windows Mobile versions such as 6.1, 6.5 and 6.5.x and should work in any resolution.

Hey Peeps!
I wrote a script to show you the device uptime.
I know there is software out there to do this already, but this is simple small and you dont need to install anything new.

What it does

  1. 1. when you boot your device it writes the current timestamp to a file \UpTime.log
  2. 2. Anytime after that when you run the DisplayUptime.mscr it calculates the difference between the BootTime and CurrentTime and then displays the results in the form of x Days, x Hours, x Minutes, x Seconds

!NEW! – I added LastBoot date/time & Current date/time to message window and reformatted how the info is displayed

And that’s it. It runs for a brief moment at boot up, and then again when you run the script. light, fast and effective.

For those of you that are not familiar with the work of NRGZ28, he is one of the most active chefs at XDA and lately (over a year or so) has increased the quantity and quality of his ROMs, which are of the Energy Series. His ROMs cover many devices including: Leo, Rhodium, Topaz, Raphael, and more.

Through this interview, we shall learn more about NRGZ28, that recently also has become a Moderator.

orb3000: Hi NRGZ28, I know I am taking your precious time so I appreciate a lot for agreeing to this interview. First, how did you get started in the gadgets/mobile/devices world?

NRGZ28: I’ve loved gadgets every since I was a little kid. Phones… a few years ago. Windows Mobile phones ? Around 2007 or so.

orb3000: XDA has played a very important role in all our lives. How would you describe your personal experience at XDA?

NRGZ28: XDA-Developers is THE site to go for anything related to Windows Mobile [and now Android]. It’s a invaluable resource that HTC and Microsoft should use more to their advantage. Although nobody can say they aren’t already doing that.

For me personally, XDA has been like a drug. Once you have a little, you can’t stop.

orb3000: What is what moves you to cook ROMs?

NRGZ28: The excitement to play with new apps, mods, builds. Everytime a new build comes down the pipe with new software in it, I’m like a kid in a candy store. And of course… I have to share that with everyone else that uses my ROMs :)

orb3000: You cook for so many different devices, what are the most important challenges you face?

NRGZ28: The most important challenge is, of course, keeping up with all the threads and the sheer amount of posts they all get daily. I most rely on the automated reply emails XDA sends me.

orb3000: Your Energy ROM thread in Rhodium section has almost 2 million views and is (I dare to say) the most visited thread at XDA. Talking a little bit about numbers, which are impressive for sure, tell us about the number of downloads you have per month, what is the most downloaded ROM?

NRGZ28: The most downloaded ROM has be the Blackstone series of ROMs. The HD2 comes in as a close second and third would be the Rhodium. The Touch Pro ROMs used to be most downloaded, but I would guess most people now moved to the newer, faster WVGA devices.

orb3000: You are used to receive tons of PMs, e-mails, Twitter messages, etc. asking you to include something on your next ROM, fixing this and that, but what would NRGZ28 ask of your fans?

NRGZ28: Enjoy the ROMs as delivered and customize them as you see fit. After all, that’s why there’s Salt, Pepper and sauces on every restaurant table, right ? For you to personalize your food to your taste after the chefs cooks it for you.

orb3000: What are your plans on short term? We can see you cook a ROM at least once per week (I know I´m too short on the estimate). What is what you are working into this days? Any preview you want to share with us?

NRGZ28: I’m working on also providing stock-looking, lean ROMs, such as the ROMs provided by other chefs like Dutty and Miri. That will be a while though as it requires a major restructuring of my kitchen :)

orb3000: Continuing into the future, what are the plans for NRGZ28 on a mid/long term? Are you planning to work with WP7? If so, what are the challenges you see coming?

NRGZ28: We’ll see what happens with WP7 when it comes out or at least when we’ll have hardware for it to play with. The biggest challenge would be “unlocking” the customizing potential of WP7 through custom ROMs of course. We’ll see… :)

Well NRGZ28, thank you very much for giving this interview, I know people will think, let him go back to Cook!, so congratulations for your fantastic contribution to mobile world, I am sure you will have a special place among those who opened new possibilities and challenges.

If you’d like to ask NRGZ28 a question, feel free to leave it in a comment below, and we’ll include it in part two of this interview, coming soon!

If you’re a developer/chef that wants to be interviewed, please send me a PM.

This great app, created by msullivan, gives you the option to send messages via your 3G data connection, this way your outgoing SMS messages cost you nothing! This application for Windows Mobile devices allows easy text messaging via your Google Voice account (only working for USA for now). The app tries to open a few URL connections via OS networking components using your data connection.

I’ve not been able to find a free application for Windows Mobile that allows easy text messaging (SMS) via your Google Voice account. I wanted something easy to use that also pulls from the phone’s contacts list. So since I couldn’t locate an app that suites these needs, I created one.

New In Version 1.1
NOTE: This version and all future versions requires the .NET Compact Framework 3.5, see below.

  • Smart contact selection. Start typing a name or number, and Easy SMS will start narrowing your choices for you.
  • Update checking and notification. A very low-bandwidth way of keeping your software up to date.
  • Debug mode. Having issues? Enable Debug Mode in your settings and let me know of the error details, maybe I can help you out with it
  • Some small bugs have been fixed.
  • Support for most special characters in message text.
  • Public source code (click through to my website).
